Hang on,turn it up, this one rocks, "great riff and hook" Joe Benson KLOS radio LA,CA
Doc Tonic was formed in 1993 in LA,CA by Mike Mroz (guitar), Steve Day (bass) and John Rogers (drums). After a long hard search, including hundreds of auditions, they finally found Darren Caperna (vocals) to complete the band. The group decided that their main focus would the songwriting. They had witnessed performances by countless talented musicians and bands in the LA club scene that couldn't deliver a memorable song. "When we weren't rehearsing, we would hang out at the clubs and watch 4 or 5 bands a night, then the next day we would try to remember at least one song we couldn't"
Doc Tonic is influenced by a range of artists including, Cheap Trick, Ozzie, AC/DC, Stone Temple Pilots and the Red Hot Chile Peppers. Their first demo was played by some of the top LA radio local shows. Doc Tonic was featured numerous times on KLOS Best of Local Licks Show, KNAC, and also performed on the National A&R Radio Report, a syndicated unsigned band radio/tv show. This lead to headlining top LA clubs such as the Whiskey, The Roxy, FM Station, and the Coconut Teaser.
Unfortunately the band broke up in 1997, due to real world job relocations. "We all went to separate parts of the country, but we still kept in touch." Today Mike, Darren , and John have relocated to Dallas. They have recruited Paul Gale as their new bass player. "We can't wait to play the Dallas clubs, the people here are really into the bands, and we're dying to be part of it all"Have you performed in front of an audience? We're rehearsing and recording new songs now. We love to play live, we live for that 30 minutes were on stage. There's so much crap you have to deal with when you're in a band, but those few minutes on stage makes it worthwhile
