Dj Scottie Rox was born and raised in the NYC area, and has been DJ-ing for 7 years now. In 1997 he was Co-Executive Producer on "The Foundation Bitch," the debut album of Mc Scrap recorded @ Vudu Studios. The project was a Hip-Hop funk fusion featuring both Mc Scraps lyrics and rhythms.
In 1998 Scottie entered the New York Club scene as a promoter starting out in the legendary Tunnel. After the fall of the Tunnel and the following investigation of its owner, he then moved to the next hot spot. The Sound Factory Saturday Night Party was world renound. Jonathan Peters captured the minds of all who entered, but for Scottie the real party was down stairs. Where Dj Cleveland a local legend, rocked the basement till well into Sunday morning. This was the #1 influence in the progression of Scottie's talent. The party became less about promotion and more sitting in the booth and studding.
In the year 2000 Scottie founded Incognito Entertainment Inc. and NothingbutDjs.com with the innovating idea of broadcasting the party live video feed over the internet. The project was approved by the clubs owner, Richard Grant, but due to limited funding was never completed. Later on that same year Scottie was finally ready to play out. With a connection he made in Sound Factory he was given a spot in the Alphabet Lounge's party Underground Basics. His debut set was a complete success and the promoters could not believe it was his first time playing out. The next step in his carere was playing the BODY GLOVE fashion show in TWIRL.
In the begining of 2001 Scottie relocated to Florida to pursue his production career in Black House Records. There he recorded 2 more songs with Mc Scrap which was subsuquently deleted by the engineer. Upon his return to the NYC area in the end of 2001 Scottie got what he thought was the break of a lifetime. After hearing a friend of a friend was the head promoter of Exit Night Club Scottie began working on a new Demo. Thanks to the owner Cafe Soundz, Scottie was now armed with Europe's hardest tracks. It took at least 5 takes to get it to sound the way he wanted it to be. He then sent out that CD to the head promoter of Exit and landed his first residency. The first night he palyed there he met the love of his life, Lynn Paige.
Over that next year he continued to rock the VIP room week in and week out, but the politics of the owner ate away at his fondness of the club scene. The final straw was waiting 2 weeks to get paid, and that was that. Scottie then focused his attention on his music and buried himself in his laptop. As the young couple struggled to make ends meet in the post 911 NYC, they packed up and moved to the West coast. The next big break was through NWTEKNO.COM where he met Russell of Flair Productions. After a long phone conversation Russell invited Scottie to FREEDOM, his July 4th Party, as a guest and a possible back up. As luck would have it there arose some problems with the equipment and in the line up. Scottie then offered to get his tables, in turn for his shot, and it was agreed. After dropping a mind blowing house set he was dubbed "the savior of the party" by Russell. Presently Scottie can be found working on his studio and enjoying the West Coast lifestyle. He is also looking to make some new connections in the North West party scene.
I used to DJ in Exit Night Club NYC in 2002.
