One-Winged Angel initially stepped onto Oklahoma City's club scene completely wet behind the ears, & quickly established himself as a force to be reckoned with amongst his peers, forging for himself a strong network of well-respected DJs & promoters in the local area - Ostara, Fosterchild, Jdam, Andre LaMont, Notice, and several others. Having been fully-immersed in clubland for nearly eight years now, One-Winged Angel has held down bookings all across Oklahoma, as well as several residencies. He prides himself in a level of diversity and versatility not normally found amongst DJs in this day and age: it's not uncommon to hear him juggle between Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Breaks, House, Electro, UK Garage, Speed Garage, & Trance during any given set - flawlessly. The name of "One-Winged Angel" is derived from the fact that he is the only one-armed DJ in the State of Oklahoma, and is a point of pride for him. He's also the founder & Executive Director of Angeldust Productions - a new production company based in Oklahoma City that is moving by leaps & bounds and growing very quickly. From the moment he drops the needle on the first record, to the moment the last record runs out, every performance One-Winged Angel gives is absolutely guaranteed to be jam packed with energy, his track selection & ability to read his crowd are mind-blowing, and this makes him the perfect addition to ANY event's lineup.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Performing live is how every DJ defines himself and determines his unique and individual sound, style, skills, and crowd following. However, "playing live" to a DJ doesn't inherently carry the same meaning as "playing live" does to a guitarist, pianist, or other musician. A DJ "performs" by means of a pre-recorded music format (i.e., by playing two songs written by two separate artists, and blending those two songs seamlessly so that the music never ends), taking advantage of breakdowns, buildups and changes in energy written internally into each song to create a certain desired effect and atmosphere - and anyone who has ever been clubbing should be able to easily see the effects of the DJ's efforts. I, myself, have played literally hundreds of gigs, mostly in Oklahoma City & Tulsa, with a handful of shows elsewhere: The Conservatory, Blur Louge, Sidecar Lounge, Electro Lounge, Paralogia Ultra Lounge, Anatomy After Hours Club, The Underground, The Wreck Room, The Park, Angles Club, Cafe Nova, ROBOTIC @ Kamps, The Gold Dome Building, Frequency Nightclub, America's Pub, Community Bar & Vape Lounge, Greenhouse, Citywalk, & Uptown United, and others......
Your musical influences
Every major life experience is a means for me to express myself through music. Every bad relationship, whether good or bad; every single thing I experience or endure in life is something that can be told either through writing music, or through playing a set which expresses my feelings on it. Both of my parents have a history in music; my mother was a violinist and pianist for many years, and my father is a guitarist who had his own band when he was my age. They've always been very encouraging of me to play music, in some form or format. My mother taught me to play piano starting around the age of eight. As far as my specific sound? Artists like Funabashi, Fire & Ice, and Markus Schulz have had a huge impact on what I produce and play.
What equipment do you use?
It depends on what genre of music I'm playing, generally. I have more House and Speed Garage on CD than anything else, so I often use a Gemini single unit for that. I prefer my Technics 1210MG5 tables and real vinyl over anything else, though I've been more prone to using Torq and time-coded records lately, just because there's so much good stuff that's not pressed on acetate!
Anything else?
I don't believe so.
