Vincent Mason is known all over the world for his role as DJ Mase of the legendary Hip Hop group, De La Soul and his electrifying skills as a DJ. No one could have predicted that Mase’s natural ability and immense talents on the turntable would enable him to travel the world and become a Hip Hop phenomenon.
Born and raised In Brooklyn, New York, Mase’s interest in music emerged at the young age of six as he observed a family friend practicing on his DJ equipment. Mase’s ambitious journey to stardom officially began when his mother gave him his very own set of turntables. Destined for success, Mase dedicated all of his free time to mastering his craft by observing neighborhood DJs. Mase made his first debut as a DJ, at the age of twelve. By the time Mase reached high school his DJ skills were immeasurable.
During high school Mase’s life would be forever changed as he and two of his high-school friends, Kelvin Mercer and David Jolicouer, formed one of the most highly respected and critically acclaimed rap groups, De La Soul. In 1989, the trio released their first album, 3 Feet High and Rising. De La Soul was an instant success and the album was certified platinum. Since their initial release, De La Soul has continued to play a prominent role in the music industry releasing six additional albums: De La Soul is Dead, Buhloone State of Mind, Stakes is High, AOI: Mosaic Thump and AOI: Bionix. During the course of their long-standing career, De La Soul has received Soul Train, MTV and Grammy award nominations. In addition to the many accolades they have received, De La Soul has been featured on numerous soundtracks including: Men in Black, Judgment Night and Dexter’s Lab.
It is no surprise that Mase would expand on his formula for success by spearheading the creation of Bear Mountain Entertainment. Mase has strategically constructed a full service entertainment company with a strong management team. Serving as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mase is determined to build Bear Mountain Entertainment without compromising his integrity. "The focus for Bear Mountain will always be about making good music," says Mase "Bear Mountain is looking to establish ourselves as a brand in the industry, our focus is longevity”.
