"Welcome to my reality
which is neither the white
nor the black
for which we see.
It's a step out
into a new society
It's not for you, it's not for me
It's for all to see.
So to see it
you must hear it
and to hear it
you must feel it
and therefore
you will be it
Because
you have known it.
So by knowing how it feels
you'll understand what I say
and finally get the point
To the work that I have made.
You see my mind spins in circles
never getting to the point
which is why i need music
for it untangles the noise.
By untanglin' the gray
From the black & white lines
I finally get to the point
of the rhyme within my mind
So here are some words
for which i can say
Of a breif introductory
Of me, the Lady Gray."
-L. Gray
I'm a 28 yr old, born & raised Calgarian. Started playing the piano when I was about 5 years old and haven't stopped since. I was taught by Jann Arden's ole keyboardist, Bob Foster, till late junior high. After the piano lessons stopped, I started to mix music at about the age of 15 or so. I used my ole double-cassette getto blaster and a CD player that I plugged into the getto. As of today, I've written one full-length song on piano... I've upgraded twice, 1st was to 2 turntables with NO pitch control & a 2-channel mixer which both channels sharing the high/mid/low! Now I use a Numark mixer and 2 Numark turntables... I also picked up a music producin' program for my computer afew years back aswell, which I've made Electronic soundin' tracks on. I was given Cubase & Reason, but have no clue as to how to use them yet!! I own an upright piano, which I write music on. Ontop of all that, I am also a published poet. Music & art is somewhat of an outlet for me; a'medium' to express myself with; be it through creating, writing, mixing, and dancing. Following the everyday 'norm' is not for me. I'm kinda an eccentrically aged soul who tends to do things her own way, which sometimes gets me into trouble! But hey... ya live ya learn. If ya get me...swell! If not...oh well.
I have. Just at house parties for now. Do I like it?! Sure, I'm actually working on a video for which I will be showcasing my version of live P.A.
Special moment... heh I was played at a party & everyones was standing around until I started. But they didnt dance to my music.. instead they wrestled to it! You see, a bunch of guys were sitting around in the kitchen, heard me play, then saw me... and well... started to wrestle!!
Passion is my biggest and most vital influence in all that I do. I admire Rage Against Machine & Tool. Not just their sound, but how they write and what they write about. My sound, though, is nothing like theirs :)
Electronic.. break beat / electro / trance / Jazz..
I use Acid Music on my computer. I write with my upright piano. Regardin mixin, I just have Numark tables and mixer.
Well.. I'm just startin out and don't have anything close to "top-of-the-line" equipment to work worth. However, I'm hoping that my talent can still be seen/heard under the limited conditions for which I currently work with.
