Crawling from the deepest recesses of the earth, through the mud and dirt, breaking that bitch called gravity's neck while pushing through the stones and rocks.... this is DEPTH. Raw, Dirty, and Strong in its purest form of straight up rock music! (That was tiring... gonna grab a beer!)Band/artist history
GIG history: As Depth, we've performed with our current line-up in a few places. Commitments towards full time careers outside music allow for gigs too far and few between, but we’ve been quite busy as of late. Here are some of our past gigs
14th Mar '08 :
Played at the college AM competition ‘Big Band Theory!’ at RGIT, Mumbai. We won 1st place here too. We played an all original set again, comprising of ‘Wasted’, ‘ Do You Like What You See’, ‘Speed or Die’ and ‘King of Dreams. Beat out approx 15 bands, and some good Hindi Rock bands for the Top Prize.
8th Mar '08 :
Played at the ‘Surge’08’, K J Somaiya College of Engineering, Sion, Mumbai. Our first outdoor gig in a long, long time. We were thrilled to be included to play alongside such amazing and established acts like AFTERTASTE, SPLIT and ZERO. A big thank you to Sujeet and the gang at B.R.A. for letting us play this one. We opened the show which was excellently produced by B.R.A and the college in terms of lights, sound and the venue. The crowd were a different thing altogether but it was great to see them vent out to all our songs. Set list was ‘Wasted’, ‘Do You Like What You See’, ‘Speed or Die’ ‘ Can’t Let You Go’ and ‘King of Dreams. Awesome experience for us.
23rd Feb '08 :
Played at the college AM competition ‘XPLOSION!’ at D J Sanghvi College of Engineering, Mumbai. We won 1st place at the competition. We were the last band to play and went with an all original set, comprising of ‘Wasted’, ‘ Do You Like What You See’, and ‘King of Dreams. Beat out 12-15 bands for the Top Prize.
6th Feb '08 :
Headlined alternative night at Not Just Jazz By The Bay for another ‘Sharktooth Live storms gig’. Surface Trauma were the first band. They opened with an acoustic set followed by a cool Electric set of OC's and Covers. We came on and ripped the place apart with our Originals, we debuted 2 new originals which were well received. The best song of the night was 'Mama I'm comin Home". Spencer and Vishal were in top form. After we ended the set we were threatened by a Sardar to play another song. He scared us silly so we did 'Killing in the name' and then said goodnightagain! Great gig though!!!
27 Dec ‘07
Played at ‘LIVEWIRE’ Mood I (Powai) alongside 30 other bands including some of the the top bands from Mumbai, and ranked in 12th place. Mediocre sound however lots of bands were able to do well inspite of it, hence placed better than us. Good learning experience for us. First time we played “King of Dreams” to a live audience and got an excellent response.
23rd Dec '07 :
Finals of ‘POWERCHORDS’: Our worst gig by FAAAAAARRRR!!!! All the bands faced problems with the sound especially us. Didn't know what the @#$% was happening. Most bands took a long time to settle their sound. We stuck to our all original set list. Contest was deservedly won by ATMOSFEAR. Forgettable gig for us...
20th Dec '07 :
Played the elims for ‘POWERCHORDS’ at SIES Sion. 20 min slot. We did all our own songs, ‘Wasted’, ‘Speed or Die’, ‘Do You Like What You See’ and of course ‘MUST DRINK’. Short-listed for the finals on the 23rd of dec.
13th Dec '07 :
Played another ‘Sharktooth Live storms’ gig at BOND, nirmal lifestyles, Mulund. Great booze, Great Bands, Great Sound... just wish we had more people show up because the venue was awesome! ROSEMARY and AFTERTASTE kicked ass too!!!
8th Nov '07 :
Played ‘Sharktooth Live storms’ gig at Not Just Jazz By The Bay to a packed house, along side 2 other bands, SPARSH and STR... Awesome gig in which several times the crowd were louder than the band... gig was also covered by CNBC...Have you performed in front of an audience?Yes. Wherever.Yes. and once a whole section of the crowd was laughing at my crack while i was adjusting the adapter for my effects pedal.
Your musical influences
Collectively the band has a hard rock sound with a dual guitar attack, and vocal harmonies. We are particularly proud of the fact that we are one of the few bands that employ 3 sets of vocals. Our originals, normally qualify us as Hard/Alternative Rock, if you want to label it.... We couldn't care less about classifying ourselves. We have 8 ready originals (3 demos recorded) and are currently putting the finishing touches on 2 more. Our collective influences include bands like GN'R, STP, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Dream Theatre, Billy Sheehan and Paul Gilbert's work in Mr. Big, Megadeth, Damn Yankees, Nirvana, Alice in ChainsETC
