Delayed Priority is a hardcore band from Guelph, Ontario.
Spawned from a mutual love of music and a longing to play live shows, the Guelph hardcore band, Delayed Priority began as in 2001 when 3 friends Jason Gormley, Jon Elrick and Richard Nuttal were at a local show. Knowing that they all loved the energy and emotion put forward when other artists performed, they realized they wanted to be part of that, and decided to start their own band. Since then, Delayed Priority has overcome many obstacles and challenges to get to the point they are today. First was the problem of finding a name. A few names were thrown around at practices and school, but none were agreed upon until Richard and Jason were at camp. Rich reached into a friend’s hood out of boredom and pulled out a green Piece of paper. Typed on it were the two words Delayed Priority. Jason and Richard knew immediately that this was the perfect name. Equally as challenging, and even more frustrating has been the constant change the band has undergone member wise. We began as a three piece band, but soon decided to switch instruments and thus needed a drummer. We found Matt Robertshaw, who jammed with us for a year, but eventually left to join ska band Pretty Big Plunger. Thankfully, we soon found our current drummer Brett Banks. We also have been through two rhythm guitarists, with Jeff McCallum and Miriam Kruger both taking their respective turn. Change brings growth however, and the changes we have undergone as a band have brought forth both maturity and a greater appreciation of each other, solidifying our line up and live shows. When performing Delayed Priority brings forth emotion, intimacy and intensity that the crowd can identify with, making our live show a must see. We currently are playing local shows around the Guelph area, so come check us out if you get the chance.
