Who:

Jose Reyes Jr, was born in El Paso, TX September 29, to Elvira and Jose Sr. followed by his sister Daisy. Played high school baseball with MLB / SS, Omar Quintanilla.

What:

DR Melo desires is to inspire the next and new generation of people and artists. He want to make this business a family like experience yet professional; that helps artists and people develop in every aspect of their lives. He not only wants to see artists reach their goals, but also grow as people; impacting lives where ever they step foot.

When:

In 2000, immediately 1 week after graduating from Socorro High School, he was in boot camp for the US Army.

In 2003, his unit the 173rd jumped into Northern Iraq & he decided to pass up one of the few Airborne jumps in war history. He gave the once in a life time opportunity to one of his pals, because he wasnt to enthused about the idea, and felt as if someone who was going to make a career of the military could use this opportunity. At times he comments in a joking manner, I declined history, because I wanted to make my own, lol!

While in Iraq, DR Melo met R&B singer Bianco from Houston, Texas. Even with such predicaments war brings, Bianco continued working on his music, and DR Melo began to work with him. While using the time as productively as possible and under the direction of Bianco, DR Melo learned and picked up tips on how to improve his live performance and vocals. He also picked up some knowledge to become better involved in the professional side of the music industry. After Iraq DR Melo chauffeured for Bianco in Italy and the entourage of Charrolastras. After a short period attending performances with Bianco, DR Melo relocated to Colorado.

After finishing his active duty service, he decided to relocate to Colorado to help his grandmother. In 2004, while finishing his service with the Colorado National Guard in Pueblo, CO, he met a talented producer named Michelle. Inspired by her talent, he decided to continue singing, because some talented advisors took notice and mentioned he had a nice voice; and thus created M.D. (Michelle & DR Melo). In 2004, DR Melo created Deeper Than Poetry Entertainment. He attributes the founding name to a conversation with M.R.S.

In 2008 after finishing his contract with the military; DR Melo met Joseph Jr from Young King Nation & began working with him. In 2009 they went on a national tour with Grammy Award winning Bone Thugs n Harmony, & various tours with Bizzy Bone there after. The following years DR Melo opened for Baby Bash, MC Magic, Mann and world renowned Lowrider Magazine Shows in various states.

On August 2014 Andy Herrera; DJ Kane's manager & President of URBANO LEGACY RECORDS, offered DR Melo the position of A&R Midwest Representative that lasted until April 2015.

Presently, DR Melo continues to pursue his dream and is always willing to take on any challenge.

DR Melo loves music because it has always helped him through hard, lonely, tough times. As a young child he wanted to sing, but because of his family circumstances it wasnt affordable and couldnt attend competitions. Family issues also affected his personal life and belief in ever making music, yet the desire to entertain, inspire, and help people still dwelled inside his heart. As the issues grew, he was determined to change his life style, so he enlisted to the U.S Army.

Learning new ideas, seeing new places, and meeting new people helped him grasp new ideals from a different perspective; then on, acquiring courage, leadership skills, and respect for life. These new conditions began to transform him into the man that he is; yet constantly evolving into a new man daily.
