Band/artist history
Born and raised in Oakland Ca, D. Burton began singing at the age 3, and like many other performers before him, started perfecting his craft singing in church. By the time D. was six he became a member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church Choir and before he became one of their premiere vocalist. As long as D. Could remember, he has always wanted to follow in the footsteps of the great performers. So to help hone his ability he studied such great artist as Ron Isley, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, Nat King Cole,Sam cook, El Debarge, and R. Kelly. While in the 7th grade D. Burton became a member of his first singing group. although the singing group didn't last, D. did get his first experience recording in the studio and realized that he was born to do this. Even though D.Burton was young, he knew that if he was going to make it in the music business, he would have to take his singing and his voice serious. So, at the age of thirteen, D. began studying singing with one of Oakland's legendary vocal teachers, Jeanette Crosby. After years of training , Jeanette was so impressed with D's vocal ability that she felt he was ready to take the next step in his musical career. So, with one phone call, she introduced D. Burton to one of Oakland's Hottest local production companies, Mystery House Productions. Under Mystery House Productions, D, continued to perfect his studio etiquette. D. Burton also learned to write, arrange, and co-produce as well as produce hit music. It definitely was not going to be easy but D. Burton and Mystery House spent countless hours going over every aspect of the music industry, from the business contracts, to performing , to recording, to marketing himself, D. knew he had to become the total polished artist. While under Mystery House Productions, D. Burton performed all over the bay Area non stop, including performing duets with Oakland's own American Idol finalist Latoya London. D. Burton's performances were so hyped that soon he had acquired quite a following. It was now time for D. to take his game to the next level. Together with Mystery house, D. recorded and released his first single "Alone." Although the single was completely independently funded, it was immediately a success with his local following. The single sold 5,000 copies without the aid of radio airplay or large-scale distribution. D. Burton knew he had what it took to be a successful artist but college and other obligations took D. from Fresno State to University of Michigan and now finally back to California to continue pursuing his music career. D. Burton has now teamed up with A.R Fuller Music and Big Time Music and is more focused than ever. Now working with several groups in and around the Bay Area writing for and lending his vocal ability, continually traveling between L.A and New York City working with legendary producers such as "Easy Mo Bee" for his album completion. D. is sure to give you what you have been waiting for, so if you've been listening to the radio for the next singing sensation stay tuned, because D.Burton is next on the dial.
