Dboy, born Ali Mohammed Falah on July 2nd 1987, is making his own way into the music world. From a young age he would listen to Rap and was memorized by the lyrics of artists such as Eminem, Ice Cube, DMX, Ludacris, Busta Rhymes, Xzibit and Snoop Dog.
Born in the Middle East, his father is a Muslim and mother a Christian, Dboy, at a young age, would sit in his room for hours writing poetry, he would write about love, different cultures, politics, his life and simply anything to get his opinion across. He showed some of his poetry to friends who were surprised at his talent and how it expressive his writing was. One friend in particular, Faze, one of Dboys influences, encouraged him to turn his poetry to lyrics. Dboy decided to take it to the next level and to express his opinion through music. Eventually this love for writing poetry turned into one for writing lyrics.
Not much later Faze introduced Dboy to someone who would become his idol, Tech N9ne, one of raps most innovative, creatively fearless artists, whose song, Devil Boy, was where the name, Dboy, originated. Dboys admiration for Tech N9ne comes from his powerful lyrics and his overwhelming talent. He has unique flow, and style of writing, his beliefs and faith in music and religion are close to mine.
During the summer of 2005, Dboy, and four of his close friends (including Faze) began making music together. They would record at each others houses, writing lyrics to Instrumentals, Dboy would post the songs on www.sounclick.com for others to hear. Dboy, Faze, Abstract, RR and Ice E were known as ST Records. All together they produced 25 tracks, but although all members were talented in their own way, to Dboy, the work seemed one sided, and he could feel ST begin to crumble. Some werent as dedicated as others, and there was a lack of respect in the group. Just over a year, and one mixtape later, ST split.
However, Dboy was determined to make it alone, and vouched never again to work for anyone other than himself, and he wasnt going to let the feud between the other members of the group get in the way of his rise to fame. Less than a month after STs split, Dboy started working with a close, talented friend, Dj Mean Machine, who has over three years experience in producing beats, his main talent is remixing songs, as you can see from the mixtape he hosted, Resurrected Remixes. His beats are simple but unique, so that my vocals stand out. I believe that my vocals are the music.
As well as soundclick.com, he was introduced to MySpace.com through another friend. Dboy found it a great way to promote his music and talking to other musicians in the same position as well as the already famous, Dboy has found MySpace a great way to promote his music to the rest of the world, as music is not a major issue in Bahrain. Its a great way of showing people my music, not only in Bahrain, but all over the world, its a fantastic way of keeping my fans up to date!
In mid 2006, Dboy released 3 mixtapes. One of which he named Screwed up Soldiers. Produced by Dboy himself, Screwed up Soldiers includes the songs that were recorded by ST Records. He decided to release this mixtape anyway regardless of the fact that ST no longer exists, simply because he says its still good music!. Then followed two more mixtapes, Resurrected Re-mixes hosted by Dboys Dj, Dj Mean Machine. Last but most definitely not least came Talkin tha Walk, which went up for sale and sold over 40 copies in less than two weeks.
Talkin tha Walk, consists of 11 tracks about Dboys personal life. The Birthday girl dedicated to his Girlfriend while going through a rough time, which made 16, 791 out of 937, 040 in the sounclick.com Hip Hop Charts. Another song Dedication to love, dedicated to his parents.
Dboys father never encouraged his sons desire to become a rapper, My dad wants nothing to do with it, he has a stereotype attitude towards music, he thinks its pointless and that its just a noise! But his mother has helped with designing the cover of his mixtapes as well as his Cousin (F.S.K Designs) who designed the cover of Resurrected Re-mixes
Dboy has finally realized his dream. He continues to turn heads with his cutting edge music. Currently working on his 4th mixtape Street Burn, one of the tracks featured on the mixtape, Devils Angel , reached around 2,000 out of around 953,000 in the soundclick.com chart, its the highest ranking for Dboy yet!. Devils Angel is also recorded Chopped and Screwed as well as two other songs on his new mixtape. He plans many more mixtapes for the future hoping to produce tracks with others; hes always on the look out for new talent to work with.
Through tough times, music is the way Dboy feels most comfortable releasing and expressing his feelings, he feels calm and relaxed while producing music. His brings spirit and feeling to any track he produces. Now the only question is, could he be the next Mixtape Messiah?
