The Scarlights The Scarlights
Days Of Our Decay:
Originally hailing from the depths of hell that is Brainerd, Minnesota, and exploiting the darker aspects of a world defiled.... Dark, baritone singing and high pitched shrieks, as well as a haunting backing female vocal accompaniment, encompass the vocal side of Days Of Our Decay. The"gothic-styled" keyboard and piano melodies, a heavy disarray of drum programming, pulsating basslines and subtle guitar accents formulate and complete this orchestra of madness. All of which, tinged with a sickly dose of Industrial rock, to deliver: Elevator Music For The Dying.
All music and lyrics are written, composed and arranged by Darvius Noctem.
Band/artist history
I started Days Of Our Decay in the autumn of 2002 in the small town of Brainerd, Mn. I had been playing keyboards (as well as many other instruments) a few years prior to that and wanted to start a band where I could express myself, musically. From the start, I had written all of the music and lyrics, with the intention of having a live band perform it all. After countless line up changes, I decided to do everything myself. It wasn't until 2007 that my female counter part: Demonika Demise completed the line up, officially making us a duo.
The intention and/or meaning of the band could best be described as an amalgam of all of my (and our) musical, vocal, and artistic influences. Musically we strive to create songs full of dark, catchy melody, amidst an epic foreground.
Thematically it is intended to be: Dark, Ironical, Contradictory, Iconical, Hopeful, Nihilistic, Misanthropic, Sadistic, Sorrowful, Romantic, Anti-Religious/Anti-Political, as well as touching on vampire lore, and manipulating it through metaphors, as well as alluding to various other topics and experiences.

Have you performed in front of an audience?
We are currently rehearsing with some session musicians and plan on playing shows within the next couple of months. In the past, when the band was based in Minnesota, we played a few shows then. A Days Of Our Decay show is very over the top, sometimes offensive, and always full of instensity and madness.

Marilyn Manson, Deathstars, Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, The 69 Eyes, (old) Nightwish, Type O Negative, Mortiis, and many more.
