Late Autumn Late Autumn
Late Autumn features a poly-rhythmic theme. The percussion is in a totally different time signature than the rest of the music. Listen for a little bit and it makes sense. Yea, it is somewhat hypnotic!
Another Wandering Path Another Wandering Path
A blend of acoustic and electronic instruments creating an almost Celtic quality. Definitely unusual.
Anabasis Anabasis
An electronic voyage into the mind of a mad scientist of sorts! This is one of those songs I composed in the middle of the night, from 2 am til 5 am...No joke. Might be a good tune to use as closing credits for a movie...who knows
David Alan Smith is a composer of original ambient and new age music (for the lack of a better genre...some of the music is not really relaxing). David uses both acoustic and electronic means to create timbres that are highly unusual.Band/artist history
I have been composing experimental music since the early 80's. As a studio musician, I have been utilized as a vocalist, keyboardist, and bass player on many other people's recording projects, commercials and whatnot.Have you performed in front of an audience? Not often. Thinking of the possibility of creating some live shows involving lights and special environments...a total sensory experiment. Who knows?
Your musical influences
I have been greatly influenced by Peter Gabriel, Brian Eno, Thomas Dolby, Harold Budd, Kate Bush and the like. What equipment do you use?
Keyboards - Roland Fantom X (my fav), Korg MS-2000, Equinox 88, Numerous software synths, Ensoniq TS-12, Ensoniq ASR-10 and lots of recording software and hardware.Contact

Anabasis - a pleasant acquintance
Dave,
Thanks for the compliment on my songs...I like your music because i've always liked new age styles of bands such as Tangerine Dream and the movie soundtracks that they composed...
