A former University of Tulsa running back who once graced the field of play is now gracing the stages of artists such as John Mayer, Shawn Mullins and Ellis Paul. After suffering a career ending injury in the spring of 2002, this 22 year old singer/songwriter picked up a guitar for the first time. With an intense desire to pour his heart out in song, Darren worked diligently to catch his guitar playing up with his voice and was performing in front of audiences as soon as November of 2002.
He was immediately accepted by locals for his dynamic vocal melodies and lyrical honesty. After a strong demand for some recorded material, Darren released his debut independent album Thrift Store Special in late February of 2003. The release of his first album was followed by intense touring and live performances from the west to east coast no matter how small the venue.
From February on, Darren began to pick up serious momentum. After just 6 months of live performance Darren was selected as a finalist for the nationally renowned Eddies Attic Open Mic Shootout in Atlanta, GA in April of 2003. Soon to follow was a number of radio appearances, endless internet publicity and the Live Compilation release in the summer of 2003.
Darren released his most recent album "Missing The Moon" in Feb. of 2004 and has been getting nationwide radio play. Soon after the Darren Flowers Band has come together and has been touring constantly.
Darren is now anticipating the release of the "Voyager" EP with producer Mitch Dane who has worked with Grammy and Dove Award winners Jars of Clay along with Tonic. The projected release of "Voyager" is Feb. 2005.
With a passionate outlook on love and life, Darren continues to captivate listeners with not only the music he writes, but the emotion underneath it.Your musical influences
