Band/artist history
...it began in the fall of 1996 when two libertines from sleepy towns in Long Island, New York, grew tired of the stagnant death metal and punk scenes they had been part of for so long. These two, Charles and Dana, already great friends, familiar with each other's quirks, auras, and, shall we say, appetites, decided it was time to mix together their particular styles and form a most Unholy Union.
...as this union was the melding together of a male and female dedicated to physical pleasure, indulgance of all things, and the destruction of the greatest Evil of all, Christianity, they decided that this would be the beginning. A new Eden...A Dark Eden, where its Adam and its Lilith cavorted under the Tree of Knowledge, proudly tasting the Apple...and, if they so desired, Eve...
...with Charles dubbed a Reverend by those who saw his influence upon others and knowledge of the Unholy Word, only to later be dubbed one in eyes of Man's Law and Dana dubbed Jezebel after the most-Unholy Biblical harlot, the band briefly terrorized the citizens of Long Island, who were very much not prepared. The blasphemous Reverend on keyboard and male vocals the perfect match for the beautiful, sinful Jezebel on bass and female vocals...
...however, after a disatrous trip to New Orleans, our two anti-heroes found themselves at odds with one another and the band found itself at a crossroads. would it break up or continue with a new lineup? as fate would have it, circumstance would make the choice for the Reverend...
...personal tragedy forced the Reverend to re-locate from Long Island to Manhattan, where he decided to re-form the band, incorporating more of a goth and darkwave influences than before, now taking in his protege and then-lover, Kate, to be the other half of the dark union. Now a seven-piece band, with The Reverend and Kate doing only vocal duties, the band had begun its second birth, Eve replacing Lilith as in the liar's tale...
...however, Kate soon proved to be too weak minded and submissive for the Reverend's tastes. while Jezebel was an equal, Kate was happy to be the Reverend's plaything, not up to the task of co-fronting the band...
...and so, she too, was cast out...
...so, after taking a break from the stress of the insect politics Kate brought to the table, he recruited former Wilted Rose vocalist, Lady Danzia Delaney, into the fold. This union was quite fruitful despite the lack of physical interaction between the two of them, taking the band almost to the level of the days of Jezebel...
...eventually, however, Danzia found herself mentally taxed by the chaos of the Reverend's mind and left, which took him into a downward spiral of depression that last until...
...after a strange series of events, Heather "Eve" Rouge stepped into the spotlight. sharing the punk roots of the original co-founder, she brought a freshness and an energy that had been missing for quite some time. a partnership that felt right, that was meant to be was born...The Great Beast had awakened once more...
...and so, re-locating to England to try to start anew, recruiting a brand new group of featured players, the band got to its proudest moments, only to have those hopes dashed by the bastards at English Immigration...
...realizing his destiny, deciding to give it one final try, the Reverend returned to New York to search for new members...
...after a brief search, he found Javelin Church, a talented, wreckless bass player, quick with both her fists and her wits, and Abigail Johnson, who overcame the adversity of being from Staten Island to be an extremely talented guitarist and good friend of the band, to this day, whose stay in the band, although brief, was fruitful enough to create the band's first demo in October of 2001, Entartete Kunst. Named after the Third Reich's labeling of all art it found offensive, this four song CD made up for its poor sound quality in the the quality of the performances it held, hinting at the greater darker yet to come. The MP3's of this CD, "3 Years, 10 Months, 8 Days," "Fromm Sundin," "At Last," and "Kiena," spent many weeks on several of MP3.com's top 50 lists, including overall bands from new york, where they reached #4, and metal bands (yes, we know) in the United States, where they reached #22. Clubs, college radio stations, and even strip clubs, around the country have all played tracks from this CD...
...soon, for their own reasons, Abigail and Javelin found themselves outside of the band and he searched, anew, for the perfect replacements for his two friends and bandmates...
...what he found were the partners in crime he had always dreamt of...
...in Kleibold Harris, sharing his metal and punk roots, the renewed power that he sometimes needed to be reminded of...
...Danzia-era drummer, John Marzon, returning to Dark Eden, a pounding force that drives the march to war, a driving beat that creates the very backbone of the band...
...former EnVayne vocalist/guitarist Bonnie Edner, a woman of immeasurable talent and drive
...and, returning to Dark Eden, where she belongs, after a brief stay in New Orleans, Entartete Kunst-era bass player, Javelin Church...
...after two successful shows, the band's keyboardist, Gia, who had ventured all the way from Florida to join the band went back, due to personal reasons, causing a large question mark to form over the band's future...
...but, when things started to look bleak again, there was hope in the form of the appropiately named Eva Eden, an unbelievably talented keyboardist/backing vocals, not to mention one of Philadelphia's most accomplished fetish models...
...with the recording of their second CD, a nine-song masterpiece of darkness entitled Rock Me, Asmodeus, the black wave appeared ever more ready to wash over the calm seas of sanity...
...the new year of 2004 brought almost a complete overhaul of the band, with Javelin, John, Eva, and Bonnie going their own ways
...and now, with the lineup revitalized by the returning Gia Iscariot, now on second guitar, and new additions Jenna B. on lead guitar and Tantrum on drums, the band prepares to release its third CD in May, Jehovah's Sickness, a dark and angry journey that people have already begun to use terms like "Death glam" and "Goth core" to even begin to describe
...thus, it is here, Dark Eden, in its most powerful form, only a few clicks away, ready to penetrate your ears and violate your mind. there has been struggle, there has been conflict, but no matter what the dying christian god tried, it could not be stopped. Dark Eden is the first sign that the Age of Osirus has ended and the Age of Horus has begun...
...beautiful...
...brutal...
...cruel...
...unholy...
...in two words...
...dark eden...
