Band/artist history
i have been writing music since 1994. most of the notation is done in cakewalk using my SoundBlaster Live card, and 256Megs of space for the digital instruments. my newer compositions are starting to bring in recorded instruments (piano, acoustic guitar, vocals) -- for the moment they more or less accompany the notated music. i started out in 1994 writing simply classical/orchestral music. as i continue to try and broaden my grasp on that, i've been branching off into other genres... industrial, dance/techno, experimental, rock/post-rock... i'm still trying to find my niche. then i think, somehow, i can consolidate all of this into one interwoven genre.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
i wish. i'm a one man band, and most of the music is recorded digital instruments.. i think if it were done correctly it would be me, a couple guitar players, a bass, drummer, and an orchestra of about 5 musicians.
Your musical influences
i'm greatly influenced by my favorite band: radiohead. my other favorites on this front include bjork, mogwai, godspeed you black emperor!, mum, aphex twin, sigur ros. on the orchestral front, i enjoy the soundtrack works of randy edelman, jerry goldsmith, james horner, mark mancia, danny elfman...
What equipment do you use?
i have my soundblaster live, with plenty of synth soundfonts, which i then use cakewalk for the notation. i write my trance/techno music on the staff. i don't like the idea of just using existing loops. where is the true creation in that? on that thought, i've been staying away from loop-based software like Acid, Fruity, etc.
