Indie

Colours Run are a Manchester band, and all hail from the area (except for Tim, who comes from Liverpool, a small fishing village near Manchester). They devote themselves to writing and playing music with genuine emotional depth and catchy hooks. "Could be, and should be, absolutely massive", say www.manchestermusic.co.uk, with "the sort of tunes you could imagine filling stadiums". Their current favourite venue is the Blue Cat Café in Stockport, which is not quite a stadium, but is nevertheless very nice and has a lovely bartender. They're currently the - you can help them stay there by downloading their songs (for free) from their Colours Run are currently listening to a lot of Rufus Wainwright and Elbow. Tim would very much like to meet Guy Garvey since he seems like a really sorted bloke who wears great scarves
Band/artist history
I'm Tim Cameron, and I play lead vocals and acoustic guitar. Dave Green is our lead guitarist, and also plays bass when Paul is too busy being clever. Paul Robinson (bassist, mostly) also plays keyboards and, when provoked, French Horn. Our drummer is Trevor Kennedy, the really short-haired guy. Paul's hair is medium length, mine is somewhat dishevelled, and Dave's looks like a small mammoth is hibernating on his head. Our final lineup came together in 2005 and we haven't looked back.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We regularly gig in the North of England. Our best moment would have to be the first gig we every played, since we weren't even supposed to be playing there! We gatecrashed a band night at The Farmer's Arms in Lancaster and said "what do you MEAN we're not on the list!" They let us play, the crowd loved us, the rest is history.
Your musical influences
Get ready for a huge list - we're all into different bands, which is what makes our sound so energetic. Tim - Paul Simon, Neil Finn, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Nick Drake, Damien Rice, Jeff Buckley, Kings Of Convenience, Sufjan Stevens, Aqualung, Turin Brakes Trev - Jeff Buckley, Jimi Hendrix, Doves, Elliot Smith, Iggy & the Stooges, James Brown, Led Zep, Mansun, Radiohead, Rufus Wainwright, Arcade Fire, Kings of Leon, Jill Scott and the legend Bernard 'Pretty' Purdie Dave - Counting Crows, Tori Amos, Jeff Buckley, Jimi Hendrix, The Police, Chris Cornell, Jeff Beck etc. Oh, and the one and only Slash ;) Paul - Ben Folds Five, Brian Wilson/Beach Boys, Björk, Jeff Buckley, John Lennon, Jaco Pastorius, Nick Drake, Led Zep, The One-and-only Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Steely Dan, Radiohead, Herbie Hancock, Jimi Hendrix, Little Feat, Joni Mitchell
What equipment do you use?
Dave uses a Gibson. I've got a washburn electro-acoustic. Trev has a Pearl kit, and Paul's got some kind of mad custom bass that costs 36,000. Well, maybe not that much.
Anything else?
Yes! Please download our songs for free from our , because we're currently in first place in their competition, and if we can stay there until September 29th, we win a $300,000 promotion deal!
