“music is a passion I live off the grind/ as long as I’m here breathin’ Hip-Hop’s alive/” YD
Born and raised in a small area of southwestern Pennsylvania, YD never knew he had this passion in him. “I mean, I’m currently 21 years old. Growing up I was never like, “I’m going to take a crack at this rap thing.” I had a few friends who messed around with it here and there and I just thought it would be ill if I could rap too.” says YD. The old saying “practice makes perfect” could never be used better to sum up his career. “All the different groups I was in, all the early recordings, all that experience, definitely play a factor in my success and understanding of the game.” he comments. Recently finishing his third solo album Code of Ethics, the rapper/producer/COO of Ill County says, “the material I recorded for Code of Ethics, the album and the mixtape, that’s me at my best, that’s YD right there.” Trying to kick in the door of the music industry, he boasts, “I have hit records, look at me, I’m marketable, I’m bout to have a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, I’m business savvy, and more importantly I love and I’m passionate about what I do.” It’s only a matter of time before major record labels hear and believe in what YD brings to the genre.
