Acoustic Vocals

Although Clay does have a band, he has firmly established himself as an exceptional solo artist. His first two CDs feature acoustic guitar, vocals and harmonica. The music ranges from cowboy ballads to traditional country to "smoking" blues. Clay has just released a limited edition EP which features 4 songs with his band.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Based in Nashville, Tennessee I perform 7 shows in 5 days each week when I am in town - 5 solo and 2 with my band. Being in Nashville gives me many different opportunities from being filmed by TV from all over the world to performing with a variety of artists. Tom Jones came in and jammed for a couple of hours with my band once and just last week I had a chance to play with Delaney Bramlett and Billy Ray Reynolds.

Anything else?
I wrote the song Wild Horses in 1993 to try to shine a light on the plight of the wild mustangs here in America. I started getting death threats and stopped performing it but did send cassettes to all of the wild horse associations I could find. I got a call in 2008 from a woman in California who had found the cassette at the back of an old file drawer she was clearing out. She sent me a copy of it so I could re-learn the song and I recorded a guitar/vocal demo of it so I wouldn't forget it again. This demo found its way to Willie Nelson who sent it on the the Animal Welfare Institute in Washington D.C. I did make it available as a digital download (worldwide). Please have people go to www.cdbaby.com/claycanfield. A portion of every download does go to the Animal Welfare Institute. Together we can help save these mustangs which I believe are an endangered symbol of the American spirit!
