CIRE (rock)

Cire is a groundbreaking new band based in New Orleans, LA, that is pushing the lines of what music has traditionally been. Blending hard rock, electronica, the soulful feel of blues, and the intricacy of jazz, Cire is inviting the world to expect more from the endless possibilities of music. Cire founder Eric Johanson produces and writes all of the music, which contains lyrics that deal with the inner universe and the profound insights science has given us in understanding our world. Far from the juvenile hook lines found in so much of today's music, Cire abounds with novel ideas stemming from Eric's interest in evolutionary psychology and philosophy. Cire's debut CD, Pleasure Is Our Enemy, started out as a side project for Eric, and soon sprawled into a 73 minute disc, touching on the self inflicted tyranny of conservative beliefs. Cire is currently finishing up a second CD, focused on the realization of the self as a biological phenomenon.

Cire has headlined at various venues in the southeast region, including Tipitina's Uptown in New Orleans. The band does more extended, intricate versions of the songs live.
