"...music that quintessentially rocks--bar-shaking distortion and Ziggy Stardust bassy-Bowie vox a la Pete Murphy. But, like Bauhaus or Bowie, or other obvious influences such as Television, Jentzen's lyrics owe little to the bitches'n'booze school of thought...And that's what Chalk Outline Party is there for--big guitars, and big ideas...people begin to understand that this is rock music actually worthy of much-maligned tags such as "underground." Because if Chalk Outline Party's twisted lyrical point-of-view were run of the mill, popular music would reflect more of people's real thoughts--as confused and raw as those may be--than most could handle."

Band/artist history
Chalk Outline Party is the brainchild of vocalist/guitarist Aaron Jentzen and lead guitarist Brian Sproul. They met at Grove City College and began laying the foundations for the band's current incarnation, which features the sonic and kinetic mayhem of Jason Dangle on bass and Doug Kochmanski on drums.
Since Chalk Outline Party's debut in January of 2003, the band has released a self-produced EP--Shiny Penny Things--earning college and commercial radio play and comparisons to such groups as Cobra Verde, Bauhaus, Television, Nick Cave, David Bowie, and Lou Reed, among others, while maintaining a busy schedule of shows at regional colleges, rock clubs, and performance spaces.

Recent stops include Pittsburgh PA, Akron OH, Cleveland OH, Youngstown OH, Detroit MI, Ypsilanti MI, Brooklyn NY. We'll play in your basement.
The best is when you get your life threatened by a member of the opening band right after your set. Also, when the bass player opens a vein in his hand and crawls all over the floor during the last song.
Your musical influences
David Bowie, Lou Reed, the Who, Nick Cave, Steely Dan.
What equipment do you use?
Nothing beats guitars, bass, drums, throat.
