Caretunes is more than a few songs for children. In fact, the genesis for the project was borne out of observing numerous early childhood and educational settings, and realizing many teachers and providers could use some support with the daily routine.
As those of us in early care and education know, a consistent routine is vital in helping young children feel at ease,
thus enhancing their ability and readiness to learn. So, one rationale for Caretunes is to provide a tool for the teacher/provider.Band/artist history
Saun Floyd holds a Masters Degree in Community Agency Counseling from Marshall University. He has presented at national, state, and regional conferences on a variety of topics from child development, parenting issues, discipline/guidance and challenging behavior, to communication skills. His work history includes Birth to Three Early Intervention, Parenting Education, Family and Childrens Therapy, and Case Management and Trainer for therapeutic foster care. He is presently the Behavior Consultant at Link Child Care Resource and Referral, a program of River Valley Child Development Services in Huntington, WV.
Saun provided consultation to Family Communications Incorporated (Mr. Rogers Neighborhood) in producing Challenging Behavior, Where do We Begin? a training workshop addressing the dynamics of challenging behavior. He is a member of F.C.I.s
National Advisory Committee on Positive Discipline and the Power of Relationships. He is currently collaborating with F.C.I. in developing a training workshop addressing guidance and the importance of positive relationships.
Saun has also developed a childrens music cd for use in early care and education. Caretunes is designed to support a typical daily routine in preschool settings. The interactive songs provide curriculum opportunities, support social/emotional development, and set a positive tone.
