I was raised in an Old Time Baptist church where I accepted Jesus as my Savior when I was 8. I was weaned on the traditional Hymns and sang my first solo at age 12(One More Valley). I love any and all forms of Gospel music. From The Old Rugged Cross (sang accappella), Mercy Me to GRM. I am however drawn to the traditional/southern gospel styles of music.
I have always had music in my heart. Even in school I always wanted to be a part of any thing that had to do with music. Concerts, stage show, etc. I participated in competitions at both District and State levels, achieving a 1++ rating on my vocal solo at State competition. To my knowledge this is the highest rating achieved in the history of my school. I was 18 or 19 when I felt Gods call on my life to use my talents for him. Due to choices I've made. It has taken longer for God to get me to the point that allows him to open up my ministry. Not all of my choices were bad God blessed me with 3 children (Brian , Erica and William) which in turn have blessed me with 4 grand children. (Jamal, Alyica, Madison and Makenzie)
Even though God placed his call on my life, I as so many, choose to go out and do my own thing. Living my life with my Eyes Wide Shut. Seeing only what I chose to see and not looking to deep into my own heart. I would convince myself I was still being a Christian. Through the years God would remind me of this calling and I would always have some reason for not attending Church or living my life for him. It was in early 2003 while I was in a motel in Michigan that God spoke to me and said "I have given you your talent and I have prodded you to use them for my Glory and you have turned away each time. This is the last time I will call on you. The choice is now yours". I had always given my heart to God at least in my own mind. To know that God is going to turn away from your calling is a feeling that, Will open your eyes. It was that night I got on my knees and gave my total self to him. I started looking for reasons to go home (my job kept me away) so I could go to church.
When I lost my job I didn't let this get me down but, looked to it as an opportunity given by God to peruse my ministry. God has done wonderful things in my heart during this time and I only grow stronger in him daily.Have you performed in front of an audience?I have played a few live gigs one that was very special for me was at my moms church in Eldon Mo. and I enjoy it very much. I also am part of my churchs P&W team. God allowed me to release my First CD "Answer the Call" and opened up a major door for me. I was selected to attend "The Connection 2004" Gospel Talent Showcase in Dallas.(put on by Hearken Studios) Where I was given the opportunity to perform for many different professionals in the music industry.I was inlisted by One Lord Productions to come and record some of their original music which has lead to my 2nd CD ....in the beginning.
Your musical influences
I have always enjoyed listening to the old time gosple quartets. The are probaly what sparked my interest in music. But being a soloist(christian Gosple/Contemporary Gosple) I don't get the oppertunity to do harmony work much as I would like.Anything else?
It is not only my mission to spread the Gospel and help unify the body of Christ but, I prayer that my music will touch and bless the hearts of all who listen. I hopes in some way all who meet me will see the loving spirit of Jesus in my heart and this will possible help them to "Answer the Call" that God has on their life.
