The Sunshine State is well renown for its pretty beaches, tourist attractions, and retirement homes. Often overlooked, however, is its rank as the 2nd most violent state in the nation. Determined to depict what really goes on in Florida, affectionately called the ‘Triggastate’, are the Triggastate Trendsetters. Their debut release, entitled 10-20-LIFE, is inspired by the controversial Florida gun law of the same name. The legislation stipulates that a person using a gun during a crime will face 10 years of prison, 20 years for firing the gun, and 25 years to life for shooting someone. Fed up with the number of peers incarcerated over gun related violence, Hankadon ‘The Masterpiece’ and Breezalino ’The G.R.E.A.T’ insist on using this release as a direct statement to Governor Bush cosigned by the streets of F.L.A. 10-20-LIFE leaves no question unanswered as to why God made the state in the shape of a pistol. “I’m Hankadon . What you mean bout ya boy can’t sell?”. A strong statement addressing anyone who invites adversity his way, Hankadon has fought friends, enemies and even himself to become one of Florida’s premier hip-hop artists. Born an Orlando, Florida country boy, Henry Lee Campbell Jr. has not always been well liked. His honesty and self-assurance has led him into confrontations with many people and the law,. Ironically these same traits have brought him nothing less than success with his music. “I don’t really care if the world loves me. As long as I get respect from my peers I’m fine.” Hankadon is a pioneering southern rapper whose content puts him in category all his own. While most southern rappers are preoccupied with jewels and cars The Don has no problem speaking on more social issues surrounding his community. Hankadon has said that he is determined to destroy the music industry’s standards of hip-hop all together. When you hear tracks, its clear that you are in for a wild ride. With arguably the most confident swagger in the music industry, young Breezalino’s calm yet persuasive delivery is sure to capture the ear of any listener. Whether reflecting on true life experiences on tracks such as “Built Like Me” or exposing intimate thoughts on “Sometimes”, there is a jewel in every verse guaranteed to move any hip-hop enthusiast. Blessed with the gift of clever wordplay alongside an undeniable flow, Breezalino has all the elements of a superstar in the making. As if his lyrical talent weren’t enough, he also serves as the production and marketing mind behind much of Triggastate Trendsetters’ success. After spending six months marketing for Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs’ Bad Boy empire in NYC, he chose to take his business pursuits to the next level. “I never asked for a deal. I just soaked up all the game I could.” Sharing such an independent strive for excellence, the Triggastate Trendsetters appear to be a serious force the music industry should be preparing for.
