We're Boxcar Brown and we play Blues. Not your typical Blues though. Few styles in there.
Matt writes a more Rocky styles; where as Marty writes swamp Blues styles. Combined we get Boxcar Brown.
Matt is the Bass player, Slide guitar, Electric Guitar, and Vocalist.
John has had to leave due to personal reasons. (Guitar/Bass)
Marty is the Vocalist, Electric Guitar slide Guitar.
Steve is moving to Oz. (Drums)
So by that it's fairly obvious we want to add a missing component or two.
I have found a replacement drummer already. Have actually have been playing with him in live band called Quadraphonic. Have been playing with Dougie for two Plus years now. He's good too.
All I need now is a bass player. I can hear some of you saying "Hey you're a bass player, don't you need a guitarist?"
And the answer is...no, I'm going to be playing guitar in this band. I already play a few songs on guitar so may as well take on the rest that JC has left for me. Soooo, If you live in or near New Plymouth Taranaki New Zealand then get in touch. I'd be real keen to chat. We may have a Keys player coming too so.
Our objectives?
Record and create an album. (have done a five track demo already)
Gigs which would be mostly private.
Recording would be at String Studios as was the last one done.
Band/artist history
Well there isn't a lot of history to the band yet.
We're young as a band but individually we have years of experience.
will be good when we get the rest of the members though.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yes Out first gig was quite a mission only having an hour and a halfs worth of songs for a four hour gig. We pulled it off too. Longest guitar solos we've ever played. lol. Gotta admit, it was a hell of a good party. Also just played the Festival of Lights. Rainy day so ended up at the stadium which was a pity as the acoustics in there are a tad poor to say the least. Having said that we did have a good night there. the audience reacted as I predicted. (stayed there ha ha) and we learned a few things about ourselves in the process.
Your musical influences
Lets see... Rock, blues, jazz, country, folk, ummm all kinds really. Four individual styles combining to come up with something unique. I think it is anyway.
What equipment do you use?
Fender basses, Behringer amp, Fender Strat, Ovation acoustic, Johnson steel single cone resonator guitars Diplomat guitars, Fender Stratocaster, Marshall amp, Fender deville amp, Behringer amp & cabs, Vox amp + ADA cabs.
Anything else?
We've recorded a five track CD and it was all recorded in the String Studios Taranaki studio. Not so big a room when ya fill it up with an entire band I gotta tell ya. but we did it. Going to record more tracks as soon as the park gig is over and make the next CD. Will keep ya up to date on that.nA new studio is finished. All that remains now is to install the software and get it humming.
The Festival of Lights at Pukekura Park is just fantastic. Got to be one of the the best venues ever in my opinion. Bummer it rained when we were due to play our debut gig on the lawn. Ended up at the TSB Stadium. Brilliant basket ball venue but for bands hmmmm, not the best acoustics. I take my hat off to graeme on the mixing desk for coaxing the best out under those conditions. We did have a good night after all that. Thank you to everyone who attended.
Matt.
