Born For This is a 5-piece, punk rock band from Stroudsburg, PA. They were started in the summer of 2010 by Sky McAndrew (guitar) and Josh Pillay (bass). The two Guyanese guitarists and friends since the 5th grade found Roger Santiago (guitar), Devin Burns (drums), and Gabby Cedeno (vocals). Roger played guitar with Sky in their music class. Devin had been friends with the two for a long time and drummers in Stroudsburg were in short supply. Gabby was a freshman with an amazing voice that met Sky at a show at the historic Sherman Theatre.
It didn't work out with Devin, so the band asked Manny Hatzakos to join. Manny is a Greek kid who beat the double bass like a crackhead. The band played their first show at the Crocodile Rock Cafe in Allentown, PA on August 21st with their close friends Forbidden Dreams and People Farm. After the show, Josh moved to Philly for college and left the band. Needing a bassist, good friend of Sky and Manny, Justin Cortez took control as bassist for the next show.
For their second show, they opened for local legends, Patent Pending, Set Phasers To Stun, and Pull the Pin. After this show, the band was in jeopardy. Justin left to work on school and his job and drama almost left the band practically in shambles. Gary Conforte jumped in on bass for the next few shows, but the drama proved to be too much. Manny and Gabby got into a fight and after a serious miscommunication, Gabby left the band and Gary took over vocals. Justin decided to take back the position as bass and back-up vocals.
