The search for true individuality is BOK76's highest priority as a band. It is this goal which gives its members the fuel to perform onstage. It is also the same goal which forces the band to shun conformity, preferring instead to "do their own thing" rather than stick to a set of established templates. According to the band, one's individuality & independence is a gift which is God-given; it is the gift of free will.
Band/artist history
The band was formed on April, 1998 when childhood friends, vocalist , guitarist , guitarist and bassist were invited to play for the underground bar, Club Dredd. With Erwin’s college classmate on drums, they formed the original line-up of BOK76.
The band started playing underground gigs at and . After Tonio Bustos left, they began playing school fairs including . This was also the time when they introduced new drummer (Soma Band). They then ventured into acoustic music, performing regularly at the and . They were one of the first bands to play acoustic alternative music back in 1999.
But the band’s first love is playing as a full band. They played multiple set shows as a full band at several bars including along Katipunan. They also played productions gigs at and where they showcased their live and powerful sound.
Another thing that the band loves is competition. They have participated in several battle of the bands competition including the and Competitions and have successfully captured several awards including in the competition.
After Jerome Ocampo left, the band got hold of Don’s college classmate to fill the void. They started concentrating on recording their material. Although the band started out covering songs from bands like Our Lady Peace, Alice in Chains, Cream, the Beatles, Juan de la Cruz band, Dishwalla, and Toad the Wet Sprocket, they eventually wrote their own compositions. With alternative rock, classic rock, pop rock, old school metal, rock n roll and blues influences, the band called their type of music as (rock with attitude). This is also what makes the band different from the other bands. They have songs that can be appreciated by the common masses to the high-end classes. We Actually Started out borrowing guitars and amps... we still do at at times, but we have our own stuff now :) basically these are the band's main equipment (Varies by occations) , , and Electric Guitars; Acoustic Guitar; Washburn 5-String XB-125 and 5-String Custom Made Bass Guitars; ZOOM 505, ZOOM 606, BOSS Metal Zone, DOD Envelope Filter, BOSS DS-1 and BOSS Hyper Metal Guitar Effects; Pearl Drumset and Zildjian Cymbals
