Bogdo Ula combines free improvisation with energetic rock. It has been influenced by musical styles from hard rock to free jazz. The music may start from a theme, a melody, a scale or a guitar riff. The musical idea may grow from a simple melody line to a furious improvisation. For instance John Coltrane would give his band only two notes as the basis of a new tune. This idea has inspired Bogdo Ula to make music from a minimalistic starting point. Bobgo Ula has tried to achieve something fresh and instantaneous, trying to make the music happen without uniformed composing and practising.

Band/artist history

Bogdo Ula members are guitarist Samuli Kristian and drummer Ivan Horder. They have been playing together more than 10 years.

70's progressive rock, hard rock, jazz fusion, free jazz, great guitar players, great guitar sounds. Frank Zappa, Pink Floyd, Eric Johnson, Shawn Lane, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Scott Henderson, Wayne Krantz, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Ozric Tentacles, Van Halen.

What equipment do you use?

Fender Stratocaster, old Marshall amps (1959 & 2203), various effect pedals, a computer.
