I'm an aspiring Filipino Electronica artist. I am new with this thing called electronica music so I would like to ask you guys for your help. I have created 3 tracks so far and I know I have still a long way to go before I make it to the bigtime. By the way, I'm not a DJ.. I use native instruments (e-bass, e-guitar and keyboards) most of the time. I only use my computer for the beats. You can send shout-outs, comments and criticisms at BlueRayItch@yahoo.com.ph thanks!
Band/artist history
Blue Ray Itch isn't just a musical entity... It's a creative culture where free spirits collide to break whatever rules that may exist across musical boundaries. Ley started to play the keyboards at age four. At age five, he was able to play some songs that he hears from his dad's cassettes by just through listening. Noticing this talent for music, his parents enrolled him in summer music schools such as the now de-func Trebel Music School that was situated in Ali Mall, Cubao and in a branch of the famous Yamaha school of Music in Rustan's Cubao. He never learned anything though since he was so comfortable with playing by ears alone so he never really learned music theory. Noticing his stuborness, his parents commissioned a personal music tutor who taught him basic, informal music theory using so-fa syllables instead of re-introducing the staff. He still didn't learn how to read notes and the music staff. He taught himself how to play the guitar through chord charts printed in various issues of different song hits and with the help of his peers when he was in his first year in high school. Bassists were endangered species in his batch during that time so he decided to learn bass. Falling in love with those funky slap-pop-pluck bass grooves he’d seen and heard from Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Philippines’ own Mally Paraguya of P.O.T and Incubus’ former bass god Dirk Lance, he did everything in his power to master their techniques and adopted them to his own playing style. His efforts bore fruit as he became known through his first band, Smoke ‘N Fly which played those tunes from the most popular Filipino rock bands that started a new brand of Pinoy Rock near to the end of the Eraserheads era. He was known as one of the most prolific bassists of his time as he introduced a bass playing technique never seen before in Marist School’s band scene. Icons of Marist High School’s variety show tradition took notice and recruited him as bassist of the funk-metal, blues-progressive fusion band BluGreen. They won 3rd place in Red Horse Muziklaban 2001 which started his career as a professional musician. He even got a chance to be a small-time recording artist as their best composition “Tick” got chosen as the opening of that year’s Red Horse Muziklaban Compilation CD. But eventually he couldn't find time for practices and even for gigs so he decided to give up his career on the last minute when two major record labels have finally decided to offer the band a recording contract. He still found ways to play before a live audience once in a while during his college days at De La Salle University Manila with his college band Bigote. At this point of his musical journey, he further honed his music arrangement and composition skills and expanded his musical references from funk to jazz, hiphop to RnB, Reggae to latin and of course original Pinoy music which is extremely dear to his heart. Electronic music wasn’t in his interests not until his first few months as an IT professional when he finally appreciated house and chill-out music that are usually played on most bars in the metro. Inspired by NU Jazz and Drum and Bass tracks from local and foreign electronic music acts, he has decided to pursue his passions for music through the elctronica path.
