LONGEST YARD SOUNDTRACK IN STORES NOW!!!!I'M SO FLY, AKON FEAT. BLEWZ, PRODUCED BY ERICK SERMON.
Blewz,an immediate member of the Konvict Muzik family is a close friend of Akon. Through their years of friendship they created good music together. Blewz is a driving force behind Akon's hit smash "Lonely". When we work together, songs just happen in minutes; completed. We used to drive and listen to his tracks and have songs completed by the time we reached our destination. Akon calls me the "concept king" I don't think in song mode I think in movies. He has helped me to simplify my thoughts into songs, he is crazy with meoldies! His ear is genius.
Band/artist history
BLEWZ aka BLEWFLAMEZ
Eye of the Tiger, Heart of a Lion
Hip Hop Artist/Writer/Actor
Hip Hop Artist Blewz has been wowing the music industry for years with his innovative hip hop blewz style of rhyming. His talent has impressed some of the top names in the music industry, such as LL Cool J, Heavy D, Rakim, John Salley and many more. He has become infamous for his versatile flow and ability to play with words. A Force behind Akons smash Billboard top 5 hit Lonely, lets not forget also the driving force behind Im So Fly with Blewz featuring Akon, produced by Erick Sermon on Nellys star studded, upcoming Longest Yard soundtrack.
Blewz was born in Wyandanch, Long Island. He and his mother lived with his grandmother in Long Island until he was ten years old. Blewzs interest in music began at the age of 7, by 12 he began to write his own material. In 1986 he heard Eric B & Rakim perform Eric B. for President; he fell in love with hip-hop and became serious about his craft.
Blewz, who knew Rakim from his neighborhood, use to visit him at his studio and read his poetry off the paper. Rakim, a role model to Blewz, often took time to speak with him about his style and the music industry. Known for his awesome delivery and ingenial word play, Rakim told Blewz he was ahead of his time with his poetic style, this influenced Blewz to learn how to deliver his poetry over beats.
A mutual friend introduced Blewz to LL Cool J. Blewz began going over his house and honing his skill to beats under the direction of Cornell, LLs butler an ex Broadway comedian/singer. At that time LL had his studio on his kitchen table and LL and Blewz spent many nights in there, freestyling. Cornell, saw the talent in Blewz and helped him perfect his style. Cornell set up a meeting for him at Def Jam, however Blewz felt he wasnt ready he was always his worst critic destined for greatness.
Blewz grew up in the same neighborhood as Alvin Tony, who worked for EPMD and Craig Mack. Alvin took Blewz under his wing and helped him sharpen his freestyle through neighborhood competitions. Often Craig Mack, one of the people from Blewz neighborhood, used to beat box and make beats on cars and they would have ciphers. This, and growing up with so many people whom not only were platinum plus artists but also changed the game, made him realize he had to give it his all and always stand out. Blewz, Alvins younger brother Anthony, and Chocolate from Soul 4 Real formed a group. When Soul 4 Real got a deal, Chocolate was with them working on an album, while Heavy Ds brother Floyd Myers, signed Blewz to his management company after hearing him perform.
In 1995 one of Blewzs friends was interning at PolyGram Mercury. His friend got him a meeting with Bruce Carbone. When Blewz arrived at his office Bruce made him wait 5 hours before he would meet with him. Blewz, ready for success, waited and when Bruce finally saw him he mesmerized Bruce with his talent. He signed Blewz to a deal with the stipulation that he works with PolyGrams management and not his own. Blewz, not one to turn his back on those who help him refused, and Bruce decided to move on without him.
As Blewz began to finally see success he was faced with a lot of jealousy from friends and associates in his neighborhood. One evening in the company of friends he was cut several times with a razor on his hands and head. This life-changing event became a moment of clarity for Blewz. He knew that God was trying to get him to move in a different direction, this move lead him to Atlanta.
Blewz started bringing his music to SoSo Def where Lil Jon was A&R, LaFace, and Rowdy Records, but at the time southern music was on a rise and the labels were not looking for a New York rapper. Ian Burke, who was A&R for Elektra and high school friend of Floyd Myers (Heavy Ds older brother) liked what he saw in Blewz. He saw similarities between him and, at the time, Elektra recording artist Akon, an artist/producer formerly of the Refugee all-star camp, and wanted to arrange for them to meet. However it was when Blewz was working with a local producer that he met Akon. He and Akon began working together as family from day one. Akon gave him a new out look on life. Blewz would write the songs and Akon would produce the tracks. Akon is now an SRC/Universal Artist and together they have also worked on numerous artist albums. Blewz is so relaxed with his craft, he rhymes like he is talking to you with the likeness of a street journalist reporting street news.
All my life I have been within arms reach of opportunity and ducked just in time for someone around me to get touched, now it is my turn. The Passion the Pain the Struggle to gain.
