Rap

My style is a mix of Hip Hop with urban Jazz beats. My style is about skills, flows and the art of Scratching. I bring the raw BACK to Hip Hop. Various styles. At the moment I am throwing up my scratch sessions from mixtapes I am selling. In the near future I will put up my rap projects. If I dissed you because of your lack of skill and your "phoney-ism" then I'll throw up a quick diss at a moments notice if you want. ;) I'm transitioning right now (solo). Things went down and now I have to do this the way I planned. I had planed to make my mark this summer (2009) in Asheville, North Carolina and branch out. But things fell apart. A lot of fake people talking. Now it's about building my rep back and bringing Hip Hop to true Hip Hop Heads. I am working on a lot of things musically and I'm ten toes in it.
Band/artist history
Started out as a battle DJ with a crew called "The Chillout Crew". Used to battle crews around The Bronx trying to get noticed. We were young so we never got any respect. Guy named T-Ski (of T-Ski Valley "Catch The Beat") let me in his basement to help him work on that song. That made me hungry seeing him blow up so fast. After years of battling, I quit. I moved South (Asheville, NC) and started battling again but picked up the mic this time. Took out a bunch of DJ's and MC's. They call me "The Godfather of Hip Hop" there because I set the city of fire and basically changed the landscape of Hip Hop. (Ask "who's Vicious Vaughn" and they'll tell you some battling stories).Started get noticed but moved back to NY. Came back south years later (Charlotte, NC) and started making mix tapes. I had met from years before when I came to Asheville. When I returned we hooked up and decided we needed to finally do our own thing. After years of doing shows and making music to suit us indivdually, we just said "Lets do this!" He was the music man in the city and I was the top DJ and MC.But that fell apart. Now I'm solo and putting my own thing together once and for all.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Block parties, battles and some house parties. I mainly work on my craft and my projects now. From time to time someone will ask me to do something.
Your musical influences
(Ellington, Grover Washington jr, Etta James, the Marsalis Brothers, others) (GM Flash, BDP/KRSONE, Grand Wizard Theodore, The Cold Crush Bros, Kool Herc, Rakim, Tupac for some of his heart felt joints like , Q-Bert (Invizibl Scratch Piklz), The X-ecutionerz, Mista Sinista, most REAL turntablists and others) (Otis Redding, Anita Baker, Luther) Chopin, Bach, Beethoven (Where do you think ALicia Keyes got "fallin': from and her inspiration to play piano? Some of you low rent niggas should listen to some), Ravel Queen (A lot of Hip Hop samples came from classic rock songs. A LOT!!), Peter Frampton, The PoliceInfluences are unlimited. These are just the basic ones.
What equipment do you use?
2 Technic SL1200 Turntables, Behringer DXO52 mixer, Numark Blue Dog scratchmixer (as a terminal), Cool Edit Pro software, Boss Drum Machine, Various percussion sofware, Yamaha Keyboard, 600 albums, over 250 CD's, 300 tapes and a shltload of DVD's for samples.
Anything else?
My style is seldom used and you can say that it has been "lost" in Hip Hop. Bringing the true elements back to Hip Hop. Its not all about me trying to be the best and put my face in everyone's face. My style is what peeps have missed. I'm not selling out for no one because I'm not going to be some punk trying to perpertrate some bullshit scene. I grew up in the ghettos of the South Bronx and everyday life is a struggle because of my childhood but I'm moving forward. I know what its like in the streets. But I dont need to show the world that I haven't gotten out of the ignorant mentality. The streets are in me and help me survive. But bragging that I can't overcome the madness, through lyrics, is something I won't do. These dudes don't see that. They see the dollar signs so just a like hooker on the street, they run to the pimp. They forget where they came from and turned into the very same ones who, when they ran the streets, didn't trust (snitches, bitches, fakes, etc). Some of you punks are throwing it right back out there. and test your skills.Need a lesson in Hip Hop?
