Beverley Conrad is a folk fiddler from the northern Appalachian Mountains. She lives in central Pennsylvania and teaches fiddle as well as plays one. Enough of the third person, here's the rest of the interview...
Band/artist history
First I was solo, then I played as half the duo Conrad and Burgess for many years. Then the restaurant where we performed got closed down by the board of health. My husband startted a jazz trio. I took up with an Irish drummer. Still married to Greg, but we no longer perform together. We have the music of our duo The Lowlander Highlanders on Sounclick at www.soundclick.com/lowlanderhighlanders
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yes, mostly I play live and as a solo fiddler or with a drummer when I appear as half of the duo the Lowlander Highlanders. We play at festivals, fairs, picnics and taverns.
Your musical influences
Fiddle and drum! The root music of the northern Appalachians with a bit of myself thrown into the mix. Tunes and style that come down to us from the Scots and the Irish. Old time music - not bluegrass - that's different.
What equipment do you use?
My fiddle, my hands and my feet.
Anything else?
Please visit our duo's page at Lowlander Highlanders - we're on Soundclick, too.
