Your musical influences
Too many to mention. My father and uncle for starts, father devoted and gifted jazz piano man and uncle classical violinist with rep. sheets from here to the moon and back. But here are some of the souls I owe it all to: -Bill Evans, Miles, Ellington, Coltrane and Parker. the living: - Donald & Walter. (Mr. Fagen and Mr. Becker..) - Steve Gadd, my man Bozzio Early synth inspiration: - Vangelis and JM Jarre, who just released a new album !! Favorite producers: - Uncle Trev, Gary Katz, David Kershenbaum and Allan Parsons, Steve Martin, oh and Marcus Miller, if any body knows him... hahaha ! But I would give a decade of my life to have the privilege to do something with Stevie, the boy wonder for he is Gods way of telling us the true nature of music is a gift. A gift so great and beautiful a lifetime of devotion is not enough. Steve, if you ever hear about this: I'm here waiting for ya !
What equipment do you use?
A banjo and a pitchfork.... No serious: Real stuff: various basses, guitars and vintage synths and keys. Tech stuff: MAC / PC powered setup using Logic Pro as master sequencer and main recording device. Pro Tools for most mastering and final mixing on most productions. Mixing on PT is done by Christian Rhein who knows that shit in and out. I use Garage Band and Reason for quick setups and on the fly sequencing but everything eventualy ends up in LAP. Then there is: Reason, Live and an overdose of audiounits and other plugs devided over 5 machines. (3 macs / 2 PC's rewired etc.) This is the age of virtualisation y'all know? If you got the hardware, why go out of the Digital Domain ? check www.audiomotion.nl for detailed info, specs and pictures of his setup.
Anything else?
"I think music is the best thing that happened to mankind since the invention of the wheel and refrigerated beverages. The industry has raped, exploited and disrespected it from day one. But it is still here... too sooth us and quench our thirst for the language of emotion and human exression. Some of it remains as pure as a ray of sunlight as sip of cool water on a hot summers day. Some of us imitate and some of us create. Blessed are the ones who reach the soul of us with their creations. Who enlighten us and make the moments of our lives worth living. You have inspired me and let the goose out and I hope to be somewhat of an inspiration to you all. For we are so alike but so unique, all at the same time. I love music and I allow music to love me, forever and a day. Respect." BasM
