The Time Travel Crew are some kids from mid michigan who never want jobs. Composed of singer/guitarist Sean Stout, singer/guitarist Glen Redman, and Drummer Eric Meier, TTC has some fun playing with thier guitar toys and writing cute little songs. Even though they're not quite off the ground yet, the good lord may have something in store for them when they unveil to the world thier first album summer of 2005.
Band/artist history
Summer of 2003 A.D-Guitarist Glen Redman is invited to a jam session with a friend of his fathers, and that man's son, Sean Stout. Late summer of 2003 A.D-Eric Joins Glen, Sean, and Seans father Curt, in the weekly jam sessions. Glen discovers fire. Late summer of 2003 to Spring 2004-At the jam sessions, the foursome plays multitudes of sixties pop, and develops a flare for it. With Glen and Sean on guitars, Eric on drums, and Kurt on bass, they pump out endless cassette tapes filled to the brim with covers. Mostly Beatles, Nirvana, and Elvis. Early Summer 2004- One boring weekend, Sean crashes at Glens for the night. From midnight to five a.m, they write and record on to raw cassette 5 of thier first official songs: "For Glens Dad", "Sawdust", "Shes Chewing my Gum", "Skin Die", and "It's Always Eric" this recording is acoustic and is available by request. The songs are practiced with Eric at the next days jam session, the drums add undeniable flavor. Early Summer 2004- On another late night in Glens basement, Sean and Glen write and record another batch of songs. The raw cassette recording, entitled "Motel Matrimony" consists of "Motel Matrimony", "Buddy Hollywood", and "My Pad". Motel Matrimony will (unfortunately) become thier signature song among thier (small but expanding) listening community. Eric sacks London. It is the first successful invasion of England since 1066. Early Summer 2004- Glen and Sean play an acoustic set at the Daughters of the American Revolution meeting in Harrison. The older people in attendence loved the music. Later that summer-The Time Crew is chosen as the band name. They begin writing song after song at the jam sessions. The rest of that summer-The final TTC lineup is two guitarist/singers Glen and Sean, and the drummer Eric. Curt has to go to work. They spend the summer writing, recording, and practicing the songs that would become thier first album. Fall 2004-Glen writes and produces a solo album entitled "Avenge this Good Day" (available by request on cassette) Some of the songs are included in the ever growing list of TTC songs to be used on the first album... some cutting is now necassary. Fall/winter of 2004-TTC jams thier songs without a mic a couple times at the school. Response from the crowd is mostly negative... they wanted Metallica. The Time Crew begin practicing every day at Seans house. Early Winter 2004- A final track listing of the first TTC album, to be called "The Sad Album" is fabricated. Holiday Season 2004- The most eventful time yet for the TTC. Curt purchases a machine that records directly to C.D and two professional recording mics. Over the course of five days, an eighty min. C.D of rough S.A (sad album) track cuts and jam sessions is produced. The sound quality is very low, but the music is still enjoyable. Included on the C.D is a Jam session with guitarist John Wickers and couchist Jacob. The recording is entitled John Jacob Jingle and is available by request on C.D or cassette. Holiday Season 2004- a few other recordings, like John Jacob Jingle are produced, but are not significant, as they are only practice sessions of the Sad Album, rough drafts, if you will. Jan 2005- Sean writes "Elvis Water", and "May be a little Blood" they are recorded, and will be available from soundclick. Practicing of the Sad Album tracks continues. The band has yet to find an arrangement of mics and amps that will produce a perfectly clear recording. They are sure though, that the album will be produced by the end of the winter.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We have just begun to sprout, so we really haven't played live yet. We've jammed a few times in school, which was a waste of our time. It's not fun having Metallica requests jammed down you're throat for two hours.
Your musical influences
The Beatles (this may be a cliche influence, but its true), The Strokes, Nick Drake, The Ramones, Green Day, The Pixies, The Vaselines
What equipment do you use?
Marshall amps, generic drum set, Strat guitars, a peavy p.a system.
Anything else?
Oh, and Jon Wickers is right, Half the Battle does suck.
