We are a three piece alternative? rock outfit. It's hard to describe your own music...so I'm not gonna! Listen and hear for yourself! We love music and love to play it. Just listen to it!!
Band/artist history
Atrophy formally known as High Tide, formally known as Feduciary, was started by Tyler O'hearn and Charlie Kessenich. Tyler got a guitar for christams 01 and Charlie had, had his drums for a few months. After a while of training and playing bad music with eachother, they started to form a few songs. Then they invited one Illiyah Pisman to play with them. This mistake layed them over for nearly 4 months. Finally, after Charlie and Tyler nearly shot themselves they decided to part from Illiyah(the disease) and start from scratch. This new project was called "High Tide." A good portion of Atrophy's music was created during this stage. Both Charlie and Tyler's talents had grown over the summer. After growing tired of the name, Tyler and Charlie began to think of a new name. Easier said than done. After aproximately three nameless months the band finally came up with the new name Atrophy. Atrophy is always working Wojik, ex-bassist of Dillusions of Adequacy, on new music in a style all its own, while practicing the oldies. Most recently, Chris joined up with them, completing the band.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
As of right now we have played all our gigs in Watertown. Thats part of the reason we're putting music up, so bands who live in the area can hear us and maybe we can get eachother shows. We LOVE playing live. Everyone thinks our best sound comes out at a live concert. We feed off the energy and always love every minute of it.
Your musical influences
One of the things that makes Atrophy interesting is the wide variety of influences that we have. Tyler (guitarist/ vocalist) is very into bands like Incubus, 311, and Phish. Chris (bass) is very into Primus, Tool, and great bass players like Jaco and Vic Wooten. Charlie (thats me, the drummer) is very into Rush, Dream Theater, and Led Zeppelin. All the influences are aparant in our music.
What equipment do you use?
We use guitars, (accoustic/ electric) basses, drums, bongos, dejembes, banjos (seriously), piano, and voice boxes.
