Matt Cadirao
Improv U07 Improv U07
Another (unnamed) improv I recorded on my keyboard earlier this year. I remember listening to Eric Whitacre's "Sleep" and "Lux Arumque" and Barber's "Adagio for Strings" before starting this. It would be nice arranged for a real ensemble.
Glass (Improv. U05) Glass (Improv. U05)
An improvisation I had recorded on my Roland F-140R keyboard sometime in 2016. This recording is actually straight from the keyboard.
Wandering (Improv) Wandering (Improv)
Another piano improvisation.....recorded on Pianoteq
Of Myth and Magic Of Myth and Magic
Composed for the 2008 Honolulu Symphony UH Reading Session. Features a blend of musical styles in a sort of 'end credits'/'mini-suite' way. UPDATE: This is an updated version featuring EastWest Symphonic Orchestra and Virtual Drumline.
Dark Chapel Dark Chapel
An 'ambient'-style game piece for a custom map I started. Doesn't really match, but it sounds cool anyway....
Kelli's Theme Kelli's Theme
*New Version* This is a piece for a character named Kelli in a story I started a long time ago. She had a troubled past and this 'theme song' tries to capture some of that angst as well as some of the mystery surrounding her.
New Town New Town
Written for a scene in my story where they enter this strange city which at first is a bit intimidating but later becomes friendly.
The Lonely Girl (Orchestral) The Lonely Girl (Orchestral)
A piece for a story I started a long time ago. I forgot exactly what this is for, but I think it has to do with one of the characters telling her story.
The Elements (Percussion) The Elements (Percussion)
A new percussion show (unrelated to my orchestral suite) written for the 2009 Kapolei High School 'Hurricanes' Winterline by Matthew Cadirao and battery by Fred Mariano. In four movements: Fire, Water, Wind, and Earth.
Dance of the Storms Dance of the Storms
This piece was composed for the 2008 Kapolei High School 'Hurricanes' Winterline by Matthew Cadirao with battery by Frederick Mariano. It was heavily influenced by Balinese and Javanese gamelan, using slendro- and pelog-like modes as well techniques
Overture (Unfinished) Overture (Unfinished)
An unfinished concert band sketch with a range of different moods owing to my drastic shift in style while composing.
Sonata for Horn and Piano - Mvt. I Sonata for Horn and Piano - Mvt. I
The first movement of my horn and piano concerto, featuring elements different musical styles ranging from American classical music to recitative to horn calls and other brass repertoire.
Sonata for Horn and Piano - Mvt. II Sonata for Horn and Piano - Mvt. II
This is the second movement of my horn and piano sonata, with elements of Romantic/Impressionist literature as well as Javanese gamelan.
Shattered Dreams (Orchestra Version) Shattered Dreams (Orchestra Version)
This is an orchestral version of a piano piece I wrote entitled 'Shattered Dreams.' Basically it s about how I got all depressed and everything because I realized the perfect picture of life I painted in my head could never be real.
Quantum Leap 1 Quantum Leap 1
Intended to be the first of a pseudo film score series (which was never finished).
Africa Dock Africa Dock
This was composed in late 2003 for a history movie about I made for a project. I procrastinated on everything, and this song was a simple copy-paste piece composed in about 25 minutes.
Game Song 2b Game Song 2b
A short piece I originally intended for use in an imaginary video game. I guess it could also work with a short action scene in a movie. The reason why the ending is so abrupt is because the piece is meant to loop (rather than play that last chord).
Water Water
Water is the first piece I composed for a bunch of pieces to be grouped together as 'The Elements.' It was supposed to be about different states of water (liquid, ice, steam, etc) but came out much different than originally expected.
Air Air
Air is the second piece I composed as part of a group of pieces to be named 'The Elements.' It is supposed to depict the 'light,' 'fluffy' quality of air as well as the beauty when in the air. (But does it sound like air? I don't know...)
