Z Factor Z Factor
This track was added after the CD was thought to be finished. Making use of evolving rhythmic loops, the gritty bass sets it up and the funky guitar brings it home. This is a prime example of Cinematic Rock.

Rite of Passage Rite of Passage
Originally written for string quintet and performed at UCLA. For the CD, this piece was re-arranged with a larger ensemble, eventually including drums, electric bass and choir.

Cloud Painter Cloud Painter
This track consists of two movements of the same theme. The first is like puffy slow-rolling thunderheads, and the second is a festive celebration of a multi-colored sunset. Cheers.

New World New World
At over seven minutes this piece weighs in as the most complex and heavily orchestrated track on the CD. Comprised of several movements, the theme is birth, turmoil and war, followed by rebirth, peace, and eventually new life in a new world.

Shanghai Shanghai
Why write about a place you've never been to? Well, I think its fair to romanticize through imagination. To envision a bustling city of commerce with underlying dispair. I really do hope to visit someday, and leave not disappointed.

Sweet Sweet
Nothing very profound to say about this track. Just a solid rhythm section laying down a feel-good latin groove so the guitar can do its thang.

First Light First Light
It's been a long restless night. The wind and rain have kept me up. But out of the darkness a somber melody on a distant horn echoes out, signaling the break of a new day, as a silver drop of hope blossoms into clear daylight.

Q Blaze Q Blaze
Short for quotidian blaze, a poetic expression for the cyclical movement of the sun around the earth. Technically speaking, the sun revolves around where ever we happen to be at the moment, and leaves us well seasoned.

The Journey The Journey
Stripped down to the raw emotion of sultry Blues Rock guitar, this track sets the pace for a journey of exploration into a place we think we have seen before, long ago, maybe in a novel or in a dream.

Phenomenation Phenomenation
The album title track, originally an instrumental was not named until lyrics were added. This was one of the last tracks to be worked on and left us feeling as though someone really had been directing this project all along.

Rainbow Nebula Rainbow Nebula
The opening movement represents the birth of a solar system in all its glory. The second movement follows with man's arrival and his subsequential activity.
