This sixth piece is built out of minor and major seventh intervals, played simultaneously in the right or left hand. On the piano, these notes are 10 and 11 keys apart, or just 2 and 1 notes short of an octave apart.

It seems that a rocking chair piece should be fairly slow and in 3/4, with a mixtures of quarter and half notes, and so this one is.

This piece is clearly militaristic, but hopefully only with a naive child's view of what war is really about. This piece has too much cheer, that would only inspire toy soliders, not real soliders.

Children's Suite - No. 5 - Fire Dance Children's Suite - No. 5 - Fire Dance
This Fire Dance originally was called Indian Dance, and thus has drum beats throughout. Because the drum beats are irregular, they didn't quite seem to be native American, so I changed the name to the more spirited Fire Dance.
