Ray Groeneveld
Just a guy with some guitars, a bass and some recording equipment. I make music for myself, and if others enjoy it, all the better.

Song written by my old band in the mid 90's re-recorded in my home studio recently.
At the moment, I am a solo artist, who plays solely for the enjoyment of myself, and anyone who happens to be around (mostly my dog). I'm currently in the process of putting together enough of my own original music to produce a CD (I'm about halfway there) I am always looking for other musicians to collaborate with, or to start or join a band. Only those interested in an original project need apply. My styles range from early 70's rock (like Nazareth) to current Greenday releases. I don't really have any particular genre that I feel applies to me.Band/artist history
Started playing bass at 12. Picked up my first guitar at 15. Started my first band about 2 weeks later. (we sucked) Played guitar with a band called "Bored to Tears" (i know...stupid name) in the mid 90's. In my opinion, we were good, and had a decent following, but eventually, we all grew up and got day jobs. Moved around BC and Alberta for a few years after that, learning the fine arts of songwriting and recording. I have a small spattering of guitar parts and some friends songs, and a handful of my own recordings as well. Only recently have a started to become satisfied with the quality of my recordings.Have you performed in front of an audience?I haven't played live in ages, but I really miss it, and want to do again. Absolutely love the rush.
Your musical influences
When I started learning guitar, my main influence was Slash. But after awhile I learned to appreciate many other artists as well. these days, my music has become a combination of Guns n' Roses, Tragically Hip, Collective Soul and Greenday. What equipment do you use?
I have an old, beat up Hamer that sounds great, an old Aria 12-string acoustic, A Traynor TS-140 amp, and a Line 6 Toneport UX-1 running POD farm software.Anything else?
If you like my music, drop me a line.
If you'd like to collaborate or start/join a band with me, also drop me a line.
If you have nothing positive to say, then don't say anything. just move on.
