Eyoy's life story is AMAZING because of the God who gives and protects life. In Sulu, it is not easy to hear nor respond to the good news about Jesus. Jesus is recognized as a prophet but His death on the cross that worked salvation for us all is regarded as false. Several Filipinos and foreigners took up the work of planting the message and planting churches in this area of the world. It was through preaching of the word, miracles and life experience that brought Eyoy's parents and his family to know and love the Lord Jesus.
It still isn't easy to be a Christian or even a resident in Sulu. Eyoy too became a victim of the violence of that region. He had visited his sister Cris's church to play in the praise and worship service. For unexplainable reasons a non-believing acquaintance of Eyoy shot Eyoy 5 times. He had been offered a ride by this man he had met earlier in the day. He said he could just walk. When he turned around again he was staring down the barrel of a gun. Eyoy fled, taking a shot to the back. As he fled several more shots ripped through his leg. He fell about a block from Cris's church. Cris recognising her brother's scream ran to his aid. Neither Cris nor Eyoy were powerful enough to save their lives from that 6th bullet that remained in this man's gun. In fact this man had killed 7 times already. But that man's evil will could not prevail against God's protection. The man eventually fled. Eyoy's road to recovery was a long one. Doctor's told him there would be little chance that he could walk again. God however is good. He protected Eyoy's life and has brought him to the point where he can walk without a visible limp. Eyoy knows that God protected Him for a reason. This is one of the motivations that keeps Eyoy going in his music.Have you performed in front of an audience?For now, Eyoy plays for God in the churches where he worships and serves.
Your musical influences
Eyoy first learned music from family. Most of his 11 siblings and 9 half siblings know how to play guitar. Out of this family Eyoy is the 18th child born to his father. Nurustan, his father, can play guitar, trombone, and other big band instruments. Modern praise music is what Eyoy is into now. Artists such as Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, and Hillsongs. Of course the #1 inspiration for this music is Jesus who did the wonderful work of saving Eyoy and his family members from the punishment of death. That act deserves to be sang about over and over again.What equipment do you use?
