These Ways of Mine These Ways of Mine
Starts out as a sort of ballad but comes to a great climax in the end

If eclectic goosebump pop would be a regular genre in music, Sofie Le Titre would be it's queen. The Piano- Pop-Noir band Le Titre has it's roots in the north of Holland (Groningen). They started playing together in Oktober 2008. They played 5 times on the worldfamous (or anyway in europe ;)) Eurosonic festival, radio stations give them a spin (even Ultra Radio, Russia) and the bigger venues in Holland are their current playground. The time is there to chase dreams for Sofie Le Titre! "Make music as much as we can"...
Band/artist history
Le Titre Biography
For most people the early twenties are the time to choose what to do with the rest of your life. Either music has been a nice pasttime and your real life starts now, or now is when the music starts for real. For me its definetely the latter. It is my right to convey that feeling on stage, I think. The words of Sofie Letitre, a talented singer/pianist and songwriter of which so many seem to walk around these days. Until you hear the music. Her new band Le Titre, a continuation of the locally succesful Damstardeep, has everything in it to become a famous alien. One like Radiohead, The Dresden Dolls, Tori Amos... Quite a schizofrenic alien that is; one that at times overwhelmes the audience with ugly black musical spit and next seems transformed into the well-known swan. And thus will never leave the listeners minds again.
Indeed, quite different than where used to. A couple of openminded musicians (the word topartist lost its meaning in the overusage for monotonous domesticized tune-barfing nerds with scarce facial hair), and a girl wearing cute dresses, with a friendly face, and a voice... A voice! If there existed such a thing as lovergirls, Sofie Letitre would be their queen: with a sensitive ballad she lures the audience into her web, only to next mercilessly smother them with an overwhelming bombast. And you can always seek for the extra layer, striking for exactly that what makes an artist a real artist. Never can you really put your finger to it, but she means more with songs like Resist and Overdone. If you can handle it; garanteed catharsis. If you cant; luckily Sky Radio exists.
I have no choice but to make eclectic music. One moment Im in the mood for bubbelgum-pop and five minutes later I hate the world. Thats me, and I will not betray myself by ignoring that urge. This is my way of conversating with the world, and I dont expect an answer. Clear language. What else to expect from a woman who grew up amongst her fathers Frank Zappa-collection and couldnt be dragged away from the piano since she was twelve years of age. Still, and fortunately, her manic-depressive monologue didnt go unnoticed. This year will be the second time she plays at Eurosonic, the band has about two gigs a week and an enthousiastic producer flew the whole band over to Liverpool for their first cd-recordings, and in the hassle of it all had them play at the famous Cavern two nights.
And what comes next? Damstardeep is no more, Le Titre is the band she waited for all these years. Without a doubt, 2009 will be the year they break through, but as always in a way according to the rules that Sofie applies to the world of music. Most striking for a pop-noir-singer is that Sofies big hero is Snoop Dogg: All he does is inevitably right, because he puts his soul into it. He doesnt need anybody else and thats why he can pull it off. If I keep on doing what intrigues me personally, the same goes for me.
