The Wrong Song ft Lucy, Chris, Mark The Wrong Song ft Lucy, Chris, Mark

Recorded live at the Bookbinders Open Mic session on 27th June 2010. We jammed this one, Lucy and Chris had never heard it before, we'd never met Lucy before. Great stuff.

When you come back When you come back

I bought a 6-string banjo one Saturday and sat playing it all day (unfortunately I don't have a porch), and by the time of the open mic on the Sunday I'd written this song. Recorded live at the Bookbinders Open Mic, 6th December 2009.

The Hacienda The Hacienda

It's about aspirations and being a wannabe, and realizing a few things on the way. This is from 31st May 2009, with the demon guitarist I have the privilege of working with, Mr Tony Tooth, recorded live at the Bookbinders Open Mic session.

Acoustic General

I run the Bookbinders Open Mic, as well as being involved in other musical things, and it's a fabulous supportive venue for first-timers and more seasoned performers.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I tend to play open mic sessions rather than full gigs, I like the variety of that kind of event, and Oxford has heaps of venues to play in.
Your musical influences
influences include Tom Waits, Van the Man, Dylan, beautiful, clever, moving lyrics in general.
What equipment do you use?
Usually an Ibanez acoustic electric, but I should acknowledge my trusty Fender which went round the world with me, in which John the guitarist in our band at the time drilled a hole to install a plug-in pick-up in Colombia in around 1995. For recordings I used Line 6 Backtrack, that's what I've used to record all of the artists at the Bookbinders Open Mic.
