Who the hell turns down a major record deal? She does! Carma DeLane has given new meaning to the term multi-demensional. The Cleveland native may have a few titles under her belt ,but her first love is music! Just in her twenties shes worked as an Entertainment journalist, recieved airplay on a national radio station, published her first novel Charlottes Girlz, and recently became a philanthropist as the founder of GudKarma.org; a charity for inner city kids.
As a child Carma found refuge from her troubled home in writing . At the age of 13, the quiet and camera shy aspiring artist shared her talents with her fellow classmates. It was evident that she had won their approval when she was voted most talented of her class; truly a Cinderella story. Soon after she relocated to Atlanta, Georgia to pursue a music career without the approval of her family and with only six dollars in her posession. Since then Carma has released several mixtapes and had the opportunity to collaborate with major industry artists.
After turning down deal, because she refused to conform to the streotypes of a Female rapper, Carma decided to use what labels described as her "disadvantages" to her benefit. "I wanna be relatable! Girls where I'm from look like me! Women worldwide are dealing with the same struggles that I've been through. Nobody can force me to silence that. Music is suppose to be about expression. Nobody's gonna tell me how to look or what to say!" she once said during a radio interview.
Carmas message may put you in the mind of an earlier Queen Latifah, but shes always sure to find a healthy balance between; lyrical, femininity, and grit. Her heart wrenching anthems like; "I'm just a girl" and "Growing Pains" speak on her hardships, creating intimate relationships with her listeners and relating to girls around the world. Her versatility spans far beyond HipHop. She has written and produced songs in the Genres of Rock, Pop, and RnB. She is currently working on her first album.
