Whose America? Whose America?
With all that's going on in America today....I often ask myself, why is it blessed with so many cultures? who does this country belong to, Whose America?
Call it intelligent, inspirational, non-commercial, provocative, raw or even down right controversial and those would be just a few words you can use to describe the music of a new breed of lyricist.....Amrig.
The Poet turned Rapper was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia he used to stand in front of the TV with a microphone in hand mimicking singers at age 3. In 1991, Amrig was exposed to Rap and at an early age and was consumed by it. In 1994, he wrote his first piece of song and did not write again until 2003. A poem titled "My Mother won several awards and it was then that "Amrig was born. Continuing to write poetry and realizing his talent, he turned to his love of Hip Hop and Rap and the rest is history.
