Open up a box of Crackerjacks and the child within you immediately returns--innocent and willing to take in all the possibilities of the world. Working your way through the caramel-soaked popcorn and peanuts, you hit that special moment: the toy surprise. And then...
...the song is over.
That's the unique flavor of Reclining Nude's music. Sweet melodies melting with jagged rythms. The songs taking shape, bouncing off walls of mediocrity and striving to be as individualistic as possible.
Boredom is what brought this Youngstown-based band together. Bored at seeing one Nirvana or Red Hot Chili Peppers imitator after another performing on stage. Ho-hum indeed.
Knowing that they could inject an inventive life into the music scene, they formed two years ago. Fleshing out their sound and their lieup, Reclining Nude has been moving forward as a unified whole for nearly a year. The members blen their distinct ideas in order to maked the song's foundation, creating a clash of notes yet remaining accessible.
Seeing music as a way to tell stories about uncommon situations of life (e.g. foot fetishes and cannibals), the band has steadily gained support. Gigs with the Earl Rays, Crackhouse Jazz Quartet, Scarlet Picnic, and 7 Zark 7 (from Kentucky) have also added new fans.
Finding the 'prize' of Reclining Nude is like finding the perfect harmony between order and confusion.
