I'm an ordinary Ozzie bloke who has been mucking around with music for decades. My plans for world domination haven't come to fruition yet, so I just do it for the simple love of music.
I've been writing, performing and recording songs for 30 years, and have toured parts of New South Wales and Victoria, Australia. I spent many years as a Worship / Music director in churches. I have recorded professionally in a variety of well-known studios in Sydney and the Central Coast, as well as running my own home recording set up. I have released 2 CDs which have been bought by all my adoring fans (my grandmother and my next door neighbour who is deaf).
In my spare time I play in a covers band, and occasionally do some solo gigs. Amazingly, I even get paid. My music is influenced by an eclectic mix of artists, secular and Christian - Rick Price, U2, Cold Chisel, Whiteheart, Amy Grant, Sting, Renee Geyer, Choirboys, AC/DC, Stryper, Randy Stonehill, Phil Keaggy and many more.
Most of my stuff is written to perform, rather than writing songs for congregations (which is a very specialised genre). I aim to write and perform material that the person in the street can relate to musically and lyrically. My passion is to be performing "in the marketplace" and reaching people who don't usually attend Christian gatherings.
My lyrics are earthy and grounded, and reflect a worldview that has been shaped by a relationship with Jesus Christ. Through His transforming touch all of life is sacred - even the most mundane events carry within them the seeds of eternity. My songs try to capture this sense of His divine presence in the midst of our humanity.
My band is called "Retrovibe" and we play covers gigs from Sydney to Newcastle, as well as doing some outreach gigs using our original material.
