the Definition Is
The Definition Is is nothing spectacular or amazing. It's simply poetry in music form. It's a folky-bluesy-psilocybin-opiate-induced-sounding-lovefest-of-words-

I Dream of Engines I Dream of Engines
Essentially this song is about growing up, and having a vivid child imagination. About how growing up and nothing changes.

John Cardoso decided to experiment with a computer microphone, acoustic guitar, and himself when he was 16 in highschool.
The results were the first recordings of what has become The Definition Is, a collection of songs created, and sometimes improvised by John.Band/artist history
John Cardoso lives in a small mining town in Montana. Butte, to be exact.
He grew up listening to music and drawing pictures, living in imagination.
He's been writing lyrics and poems since he was in elementary school and began composing songs in 2004.
So far The Definition Is is just John and a guitar, but should expand into a full array of a musical and artful expression..with time.
He's awaiting the move to Seattle, Washington, where he and his partner Ryan Bossard will take their currently small indie record label, Elevada Records, to the next chapter.Have you performed in front of an audience?I don't play live with the Definition Is, but I wouldn't mind. I might start playing small sets at a few places, that might be nice. For now it's just studio work.
Your musical influences
Well I listen to a large amount of music. But when it comes to influences I would have to say one would be Isaac Brock from Modest Mouse. He's an amazing songwriter and comes up with the most amazing riffs for the guitar. Another would be Bob Dylan, without a doubt the best songwriter on the planet. Kurt Cobain, of course, mostly because he and myself are both Pisces and so sickeningly alike it's ridiculous. Bradley Nowell from Sublime is also a musical genius hands down. What equipment do you use?
When it comes to guitars, especially electric, I prefer Fender over most guitars. Strats and Mustangs are beautiful guitars. I use Gibson too, more of a fan of the SG than the Les Paul. I have an Ibanez acoustic and an Alvarez acoustic, which are still nice themselves, but I'd die for a Martin. I like Fender amps, especially tube amps. Boss foot pedals are top notch.
If you want to get technical: I have a Fender Standard Strat, Gibson Standard SG, Epiphone Dot, Ibanez v70EC acoustic, Alvarez RF20SC acoustic, Fender 212R Combo Amp, Korg AX1500G Foot Processor, Boss BD-2 Driver, Boss SD-1 Driver, and a lot of other equipment when it comes to PAs, drums, and all that good stuff.
