meet Q'Moshyn (aka Q'mo/Mike T/Blacke Mike). Who is Q'Moshyn you ask? Good question. Stop sitting there looking all stupid and start taking notes.
Q'Moshyn is a co-founder of Soul Cypher, former DJ on 95.5 WBRU-FM Providence, frequent contributor to BET, Paramount Pictures, and MTV Films as a producer and editor through his company Exit4 Holdings LLC. He is also a founding member of Soul Cypher affiliate click Ex4 Family. An established Hip Hop aficionado, Q'Moshyn is best known for his sophisticated song-writing, poetic flare, crafty wordplay, and hard hitting, fact-to-the matter social commentaries. "Whether I'm rapping or designing, I always try to tell a story and create a sensational aura. Even in everyday speech, I generally explain things with metaphors and analogies." The latest Renaissance man to shake up the entertainment industry is Q-moshyn (pronounced “commotion”) aka “Q-mo”, an established Hip Hop aficionado. A dazzling smile and charismatic persona connect this rising emcee with everyone despite age, race, or gender.
The only child of two musically gifted ministers (Michael Troutman Sr. of Berlin, NJ and Rev. Denise Wooten-Troutman of East Orange, NJ), Q-moshyn is a natural entertainer. Birthed in Willingboro, NJ, He grew up around the performing arts as his parents sang in choirs and performed in shows with world-renowned actors and musicians. He discovered his own burgeoning talent while singing in St. Johns (Berlin) youth choir, but he found his niche while rapping the Nina Simone hit Young, Gifted, and Black for the off-Broadway Tribute to Lorraine Hansberry at the tender age of 11. In high school he would go on to sing for the Peddie School chorus and chapel choir, but he honed his love for rap at lunch tables, Blair Day pep rallies, and Falcon Follies talent shows.
Q-moshyn first dabbled in the industry as the infectious on-air personality, DJ Kinetic, for the commercial radio station 95.5 WBRU in Providence, RI on the 360 Degree Black Experience In Sound. This wordsmith flooded Providence radio with WBRU 2002 and 2003 promo I.D.s, freestyles, two songs voted into heavy rotation, and the five-time Midnight Madness Battle of the Beats winning single, "Q-moshyn Sickness" with his older cousin Devin Wade of the Fly Boys (Camden/Philly). He staged his craft by performing in the Hip Hopera "Sweeter Than" (written by fellow Soul Cypher MC Mr. Diggs), various open mics, and talent shows in Philadelphia, New Jersey, and Providence before co-founding the Hip Hop collective, Soul Cypher, which would eventually woo audiences across southern New England. Later he joined South Jersey-based Ex4 Family, and the two groups would eventually combine efforts to land a gig as the opening act for the revolutionary artists, Dead Prez. He has since rapped on mixtapes, acted with Samuel L. Jackson in a BET commercial celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, performed in the BET Press Play promos for Diddy, and has voiced characters and produced segments for "Welcome to the Family," a family radio show which airs on 800 WTMR-AM in the Camden,NJ/Philadelphia, PA area. He now frequents events in the Trenton area such as Vibe Café and performs for youth at schools and community centers statewide.
Q-moshyn keeps listeners on their toes with fresh elements of urban soul and classic Hip Hop. He embraces creative freedom and has never been afraid of pushing artistic boundaries. His stylish song-writing, poetic flare, crafty wordplay, and hard hitting, fact-to-the matter social commentaries are guaranteed to satisfy both "backpackers" and the urban glitterati. A graduate of the Ivy League Brown University, this Economics and Visual Arts double major heavily supports entrepreneurship and plans to develop a multi-media company and continue investing in real estate. Standing over 6 ft. tall with an athletic build, Q-moshyn is undeniably a commanding presence on stage or in the middle of party dance floors. He has shown a tremendous ability to bridge the gap between his professional and social interests, and his enthusiasm will take the representation of Hip Hop to even greater levels.
