I have been writing and recording songs since 1969! Now I dispense cheap advice on Songwriting, Home Recording, and Live Sound on my website, .
For my earliest recordings, my brother and I used two reel-to-reel tape decks, building up our songs by copying back and forth between them. The gear has improved over the years, and I am now using an 8-track Yamaha MD8 digital recorder in my hobby studio. I also own an on-location recording company, and for that I use a 16-track Korg D16XD.Band/artist history
My identity as The Cheap Advice Guy is rather new, but I have been writing and recording music one way or another for almost 40 years now. I started out recording with my brother - I played guitars and he played clarinets and "drums" (boxes hit with flyswatter handles). You can hear the first song I ever recorded by clicking . (It's called "First Song".)
By 1981, my writing and playing had improved with practice. In that year, I started recording with Jack, and we have been working together ever since! Most of the songs I post here and on my website feature me and Jack.
The two of us hooked up with a drummer for a little while in the early 90s and actually played at a few clubs and parties under the name Fuzzy Logic. But for the most part, we operate as a studio project team. Every now and then we put our latest & greatest on a CD and give it away to friends and family.Have you performed in front of an audience? At this point I am strictly a "studio cat". I run live sound for Jack's oldies band, , and I have been known to join them for a song or two when I'm not tweaking the faders or listening for feedback, but that's about it for onstage work.

Hey Mark,
Just listened to your "Not enough face" on SoundClick.
Enjoyed it. This was Alan Parsons meets Chris Rhea.
Both are intended to be a compliment! Think you should post this one on MusesMuse. I thought this one was quite different from your earlier pieces. Less Rock, more ....um, something else.... but very nice and smooth!
