Chapters plays dark, literary rock music with new wave influences. Plots concerning blurred boundaries of consent and character assassination by doctored video tapes run through different songs. The dialog is set beside music that takes dynamic swings while remaining catchy and consumable. There are no B-sides.Band/artist history
Ben Lanning (guitar), Justin Coleman (bass) and Vincent Marks (vocals) met through concerts and craigslist ads to form the building blocks of a band in January 2006. There could have been a documentary made about the search for a drummer. After playing with 12 or 13 different drummers over the course of as many months, Nate Larson joined to complete Chapters. We wrote songs, trashed songs and build up parts for 7 months before playing our first show at The Way Out Club in St. Louis. From there we've attempted various recording projects, finally achieving what we were looking for at Jupiter Studios between February and March 2008. Perhaps we'll release those songs soon...Have you performed in front of an audience?We play a couple times every month both in St. Louis and other cities in the region.
Your musical influences
U2, Psychedelic Furs, and David Bowie seem to pop up a lot from audience members. I think we may be a bit darker than some of our obvious influences.What equipment do you use?
Stuff with lots of knobs and twitters.
