Rock General

The Electrosonics' haven't changed much in their musical objectives since the early jam sessions of 2001, but the sound has. It has grown into a complete and mature musical environment that fits people of all genres, and all tastes. People describe the music as acid-jazz, jam band, neo-funk, jungle hip hop, but have yet to describe the entirety of a live Electrosonic experience with so few words.Currently, the band is looking to expand our gig circle with numerous opportunities in California becoming apparent. The band is Jason Williamson on vocals, Jimmy Hoover on sax, Sam Minaie on bass, Justin Kruger on tables and guitar, and Caleb Dolister on drums and percussion.
Band/artist history
The band was originally formed by band members Sam Minaie, Jimmy Hoover, and Caleb Dolister. The early jam sessions were carried out with just one purpose: experimentation. Both the soul and the physical properties of sound were tampered with to create a unique audible environment. Something was missing, though, and another member was sought out to expand the trio and its sound. Justin Kruger sat in during a session in the late summer of 2001, using turn-tables and playing rhythm guitar. Without any question, he was instantly accepted as the band's "Rhythmoligist," and the quartet began writing original music and playing out. Initial crowd response was very positive, to the point that people would often gather to watch the band during its rehearsals. In a short amount of time, the band began stretching away from Reno, and has since played in Truckee, Lake Tahoe, Sacramento, Ca. In the spring of 2003, the band members decided that a new sound needed to be added to the group. The band already had no problem connecting with people on a musical level, but The Electrosonics needed the power of voice. Jason Williamson joined the band in March 03' as the bands official MC.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We play at least 5 shows a month live. We even plan to release our 1st album from a high-end live recording.
Your musical influences
Our influences come from thousands of bands, but the main influences come from actual genres of music. We have some songs that are live Drum & Bass/Trance, while other tunes are strict HipHop, or rockin' metal, or anything. However, the song writing and improvisation come from years of jazz theory and jazz studies - which we consider to be one of many forms of music that rely on instant musical communication.
What equipment do you use?
Line 6 pedals, Bass Balls, Gemini Tables, Premier Drum kits, F-Bass
Anything else?
